What is the best or budget choice Detachable laptop. Need some advise. I prefer to buy used unit.
@shahd95843 жыл бұрын
@@KJ1N I've used both and they each have their benefits - depending on what you do. 16:10 is best if your primary use of a laptop is for streaming, entertainment, video editing etc. because it's the closest to the 16:9 that is most commonly used. With a 16:10 aspect ratio, you won't be getting black bars at the top and bottom (if that annoys you). 3:2 is amazing for productivity in my opinion. If your primary use is for writing documents, researching, multitasking browsing internet, then you'll have the benefit of increased vertical space which means there are more lines shown on the screen at once. I personally do both uses in equal amounts and I'm not bothered by the black bars of a 3:2 aspect ratio. When watching a movie/TV show I don't notice the bars but I definitely notice the increased screen real estate when I do my uni work or browse the web. Hope that insight helps!

@Andrew Marc David - The resolution on these small devices doesn't have to be super high. Readability and functionality are more important. If I have to get really close to a device in order to use it, that diminishes the experience. Part of the reason I don't want the Surface Pro is because of the high resolution. It's simply not necessary. But, we are all different.

I just feel like there is no reason to upgrade from my Gen 3 X1 Tablet. The CPU is basically as fast, the Display is WAY better and bigger. This is just an overall cut down version of the old one, yet it still has the premium price tag.
@NOTORIOUS4043 жыл бұрын
That's over simplifying a little too much, isn't it? First of all, it's over 50% heavier (keyboard included). Might not mean much to you but I guess that's why you bought the X1. Price isn't equivalent even though you make it sound that way. Battery life might be different because you have a standalone video card and if you have touchscreen I doubt it's far from being same price. This is a detachable, a Surface competitor not a ultrabook competitor. I have a very technical and physically active job so a tablet is best in my case but I'd hate to buy a tablet AND a laptop. Apples to apples comparison, I think this is the best detachable for 2021 for now.

I would have liked to have seen a battery comparison to the pro 7 plus, which has the same tiger lake processor and 50whr vs the x12's 42 whr. Does the 1080p panel make that much difference to battery life? I can tell you that the pro x looks the business but those thin bezels and power button placement make using it as a tablet in portrait mode a pain. I have decided on the pro 7 plus because of the better screen, bigger battery and usbA. If they had included the pen silo like the x1 yoga I would have been tempted....

@derrickalba92433 жыл бұрын
The Lenovo X12 appears to be a very compelling alternative to even the refreshed Surface Pro 7+, especially with the thunderbolt port and the trackpoint. Personally, I'd love Lenovo to make a chromebook OS version of this 2-in-1 with this hardware, since a Surface Chromebook is highly unlikely. Though the upcoming Windows 11 with may somewhat fill in the gap for tablet apps with Windows touchsreens by tapping the Amazon Appstore ecosystem, which is basically Android OS apps that are "converted" for the Amazon Fire Tablet/TV Ecosystem.

@Sharky1653 жыл бұрын
It really depends on your workflow/use case, IMO. In terms of overall productivity & versatility, this Lenovo blows the iPad Pro away since it's running full Win 10, vs iPad OS. Multitasking on an iPad is limited to only two windows (split-screen), whereas Windows can ofc handle many. And iPads _still_ have their Webcams in the "wrong" place for landscape Zoom or FaceTime video calls/video-conferencing -- and in Zoom the other participants can't see you if, Heaven forbid, you try to multitask while on the call. 🤦🏼♂️😩🤣 In tablet mode, the iPad is ofc much better than any Win convertible/detachable laptop, its quad speakers are better, and the upcoming 2021 iPad Pro is rumored to have a mini-LED display, an M1 chip, and a Thunderbolt port. My biggest issue with iPad Pros is the value proposition given the software limitations. The price for the 12.9" version of the 2021 Pro may start over $1K, and that won't include the Pencil or a physical keyboard. At that exorbitant cost, it makes no sense vs this Lenovo, esp if you plan on using it for productivity. You'd be much better off with an M1 MacBook Air, if you can live w/o a touch display, and with MacOS rather than Windows.

I want this but with an ARM chip not by Qualcomm
@Sharky1653 жыл бұрын
You may be waiting for a long time for that if you're talking about a Windows laptop. As you may already know, the MS Surface Pro X uses a Qualcomm co-designed SQ2 processor, which has reasonable power, but the big trade-offs are that some x86/64-bit programs/apps don't work on it, and that MS didn't optimize it enough for great battery life on Win 10. As a result, I don't think they're selling as well as MS had hoped. Samsung is partnering with AMD to come up with a killer Exynos ARM SoC, but it's not yet ready, and even when it is, it remains to be seen if they'll design a Windows laptop around it. My guess is that it will appear in a Galaxy Chromebook and likely their Galaxy S series phones and tablets first & foremost. Your best bet right now, by far, for an ARM-based laptop is an M1 MacBook.
