Love to hear debates between two God fearing Christians. Great grace-filled discussion.

Thank you for this excellent in depth discussion! I love how Don and Dave disagree but show love and respect for each other. Since this debate, Dave has written a nice chapter on this very topic in the excellent book Motus Dei. His chapter is called 'Addressing Theological and Missiological Objections to CPM/DMM'. Scott B.

Thanks Missio Nexus. This format is a great step in a helpful direction. Dave and Don set a helpful precedent - discussing, disagreeing, with great honor and respect. We would love to see subtitles in many other languages (Korean, Arabic, Russian, Chinese). Re: Minute 1hr 27 minutes...Dissonance seems to be with assumptions about form of Teaching or definition of Teaching? Teaching means "Making Learning Happen." In these debates, any assertion that lack of lecture, or lack of pulpit ministry means that proclamation is not happening, or that teaching is not happening is also short-sighted and ill-informed about pedagogy. It's GOD's idea that all believers are involved in God's redemption of all nations. We have to live with the inconvenience that God uses broken vessels to reveal God's cosmic Glory. Teaching and proclamation (especially in restricted, repressive contexts), happen at parties, at meals, outdoors, along the road, during work, among women doing chores, among men doing chores, in rehab centers, between slaves and trafficked people, oh, yes, and also in formal schools. By the way, sometimes we lose sight of a tiny detail that many People Groups still don't have God's Word in a language they need. You can't "Rightly Divide" what doesn't exist... there's these historical "timezones", "borders" of Missions History, when God's Spirit really, really, really is the Teacher (dreams and visions...). Concerning Orality, messengers to Oral/Collectivist (often Honor/Shame; Fear/Power) cultures help learners learn in many forms of discourse and rhetoric, discussion, proverbs, parables, riddles, poetry, drama, media, music, song genres which lay out historical truth while the work of getting God's Word into a language is underway.

At time mark 9.15 comparing bible studies. Looking at the movement approach. Your statement "Discovery bible studies can be led by anyone even an unbeliever" When Paul wrote to Timothy He encouraged him to "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth".2Tim 2:15. The teaching of God's word is a responsibility to do it correctly and accurately. Putting scriptures in the hand of unbelievers and getting them to teach other non-believers is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. James 3:1 says. "My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment." This was written to believers with a warning. Once we rely on some system to replace the work of the Holy Spirit it's going to mean a lot of people thinking they are saved when they are not." But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. " 1Cor 2:14
