The song choice is less about the movie and more about context. People have been fighting for this movie for almost 3 years, for various different reasons. Be it creative freedom, studio interference, injustice, suicide awareness, sadness in general. For those who fought this is the hallelujah cry of vindication, of liberation. As it happens, it is also one of the favorite songs of his late daughter Autumn Snyder. For him, it's one more homage from a parent to a daughter. I understand the confusion or dismissal from those who weren't as involved, but I do feel that everyone that was involved went "Yeah, this is the song.".

Justice League was shot on 35mm film and aspect ratio was supposed to be 1.85:1 but ultimately was changed to 16:9 because Whedon shot additional scenes by a digital camera. However, now that Zack has complete creative control over the film, he's going for the full frame. I'm not sure why but someone suggested he is doing this as a homage to Seven Samurai, one of his favorite films and his inspiration for how the Justice League come together.

This will be a totally new movie as you were staying in your commentary, Snyder has never seen the cut that played in theaters basically they used about 30 mins of his footage and joss did reshoots for the other 90 mins this cut of the film will be 4 hours long divided into 4 hr long episodes, this is the cut all the cast are proud of

To be honest I like the discepancy in tension a slow or even a cheerful song creates in action movies especially during combat sequences. It adds that sense of insanity but also epicness as it kind of slow it all down (well, most epic action scenes are in slow motion for dramatic effect to begin with) and helps you digest the totality of it, blood spurting, bullets flying, facial expressions,... That relaxed state of mind really helps me appreciate the scene, I'm not saying it should be in all fight scenes but when well prepared it adds that something that makes a difference.

He said he wanted that aspect ratio because he wanted the hero’s to appear larger in his shots, just look at the aquaman shot when the water hits him. It gives us the viewer more of what was originally shot, doesn’t cut the characters legs of in certain scenes. He also wanted this to fit the true IMAX size, I’m hoping WB does a special release for the movie at some point once they realize how much they would make, it’ll look so amazing.

Hey man, yeah Snyder's cut is very different. Fabian Wagner, who was the cinematographer for JL estimates that only around 10% of the footage Zack and he shot was used in the Theatrical release. It literally made Wagner cry when he first saw it. Whedon reshot 80 pages! And it had a run time of 120 mins, so that's a hell of a lot of changes. But there will be similarities of course, as they both stem from the same film. This however will be Zacks original intended vision and more, as he has more creative freedom now he doesn't have WB interests involved. So this is more of a revert back to its original, such as Steppenwolf, thats his original design.

I also mention how “come together” also was on the nose. Just because lyrics match, doesn’t mean the music is good tonally, as a song is not just lyrics- or it would be a poem. If what you say is true then “Mary has a little lamb” would be perfect for a movie about Jesus being crucified. (Mary was Jesus’ mother, Jesus was called the lamb of God). Terrible? Yes. And this music choice for this trailer could have been better.

@@PaulLeach123 Zack chose to use the song 2 years ago, even before this trailer was made. So tonally it lines up perfectly because he chose to create the visuals around the song and chose to tell the story he it wants it convey around it. Obviously, this wasn't just a trailer to tease what his JL is about but also the journey, the trials, the putdowns that he and his fandown went through and the victory of finally geting to this point. If it didn't work for you that's fine, you're entitled to that, people have different tastes, majority of the people who Zack made his choices for got hyped about it and got it on the get go anywayand that's what matters to him.

I get that older songs can feel dated, but new songs are just garbage. So I'd take a good song over some Taylor Swift nonsense any day. Plus, this song has so much significance because it's both a tribute to his daughter and a tribute to the fans who fought for this release. This wasn't really a trailer with story beats, it's a teaser love letter to the fans filled with shots from earlier trailers that disappeared from the film. It's a thank you.

Not every movie director is famous. And when you shoot on imax it changes the aspect ratio like a lot of Christopher Nolan stuff (any director knows that) HOWEVER - this, while shot in IMAX is not iMax ratio
