just found this tribute to Maureen. I was fortunate enough to work with her as a child in a Play called Waiting for Godot in Santa Fe NM.... I still have all the pictures from rehearsal and after party's. Wow so long ago..... RIP my friend

What a wonderful film! I met Maureen several times since I was friends with her dresser, Eloise White. Maureen was a fantastic person, bawdy, honest, and loved to dance! I miss her very much. The world of show buisiness lost a great one when she died.

I loved her attitude and down to earth approach to acting, "I do a job, I get paid, I go home." Plus she was just a simple fan girl at heart. Where are our Maureen Stapleton's of today?

I saw rode with her on an uptown (westside) bus after an evening performance during her run in the Glass Menagerie [Revival, Play, Drama] Dec 18, 1975 - Feb 22, 1976 -- genius, but just like the rest of us.

Cherry Jones is correct. Mo's heart wrenching apology at the end of Airport is mesmerizing. This earthy actress could not speak a word of dialogue and still steal every scene with her eyes.

It's wonderful. People whom I admire so much Barbara Cook, Eli Wallach, Julie Harris . . . had so much admiration for her. I wish I could have seen Maureen Stapleton on stage. Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece.

I was lucky to have seen her perform on stage twice; The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild and The Little Foxes. But the first time I saw her was when I was like 6 years old in Bye, Bye, Birdie at Radio City.

So great as Pearl in 1978's Interiors. Nominated for supporting Oscar there but lost to Maggie Smith's California Suite. As good as Miss Smith was, Stapleton was even better.
