There was always something beautiful about this death scene that's stuck with me for years and years after first seeing it. The way the music create and the slow tragedy of watching him slowly ebb away...it always struck me as a horrible inglorious way to die, but it was beautiful.
@BOMNN4 жыл бұрын
its bautiful because i feel he was not a lone at the end, nobody wants to die alone or espend the rest of the way alone, i think that he was with the other ghosts and he suddenly closing his eyes in peace made this death kind of beautiful

Actually he was a villain, just because character goes against another villan doesn't mean character isn't a villain.He didn't agree to help Tristan, he agreed to temporarily form an alliance in order to defeat witches.Had he succeeded he would most likely try to kill Tristam in order to obtain immortality. Im not sure on what basis you define Septimus anti-hero.

This really brings back memories. As a child in 2008 I remember how intense and cool this scene was and every now and then I would think about it . This scene just really stuck with me . Mark strong's sexiness, acting and the music made it truly memorable and excellent scene . As a villain his death was far what I would have a expected A villain killing a villain...not the hero wow just wow . Stardust may be old but it is certainly gold for it time and CGI . - A true fan of the book, the movie and the sexy man we all know and love Mark Strong . P.s The most violent Brother had the most non- violent Totaly kick-ass Death ? What do you think ?

I realized, I've been fan girling ever since I was a young child and didn't know, this being one of the first ones. I had a monstrous crush on Septimus, I always had a thing for the sexy, misunderstood bad guys. I loved this film so much for barious reasons like the plot, the fantastic lineup, etc but I totally fell for septimus. Its been like 7 years since it was released and I still sob at this scene, but I have to admit, it's well done and a powerful scene. Just in the facial expressions and the music expresses so much emotion. I still just really wish he didn't die, and I will never forgive Tristan and Una for just standing there when one of them could've snatched the doll from the fountain and saved him. I know that would totally screw up the plot and interfere with Tristan succeeding to the throne, but wouldn't it be nice if he could've lived? I'm cursed that my heart and soul sticks with these fictional characters and obsesses until I waste away. Damn the fictional world, I love you! Anywho, this movie made my childhood and I will always love it.

Well, Septimus's death in the film is pretty epic, compared to his terribly lame death in the book. ;P
@MrTardis1110 жыл бұрын
How is it done in the book? I haven't read it but Neil Gaiman is a great writer, he's written some terrific Doctor Who episodes :D Also did the movie leave anything out of the book?
@KARMAZYNA10 жыл бұрын
***** Well, first of all, in the book Septimus is a bad guy to the end. He is also much younger than in the film (seventeen, I guess). As he tries to sneak up on the The Witch-Queen (Lamia) and kill her, she transforms into a snake and bites him in the heel, and he simply dies from poison. No epic fights or anything. And I'd say it's quite the opposite - they added a whole bunch of things to the film. Mr Gaiman is the lord of anti-climactic finales (I still love his books, though), and that final fight is not even in the book - instead, Evaine just meets the The Witch-Queen, pities her lack of power, and they both go their ways. All of the three witch sisters survive, too. Same with the whole pirate ship part - in the book it's only mentioned, if I remember correctly.
@MrTardis1110 жыл бұрын
ReiuShanra Ah right I thought his death in the movie was quite tense and epic, obviously the book version sounds great. I liked all the pirate ship scenes. I thought the movie's climax was pretty great :) It's no Lord of the Rings or even Narnia, but it's pretty epic for what it is. I really like how the plot threads all come together by the end and that Tristan is the one who becomes king of Stormhold. There was a deleted scene of when Tristan was sort of dying and Yvaine was there and they had kids or something, was that in the book??
@KARMAZYNA10 жыл бұрын
***** All that is in the book, yes, Tristran being the last lord of Stormhold and all. But in the book they travel a lot with Yvaine instead of becoming rulers - they let Una do it instead. Later they come back and become rightful rulers. Tristran gets older and eventually dies, but Yvaine, being immortal, continues ruling on her own. I can't remember if they had children, but I suppose they did. They should, shouldn't they. XD
@MrTardis1110 жыл бұрын
haha yeah indeed :) that's interesting obviously Una would rule alongside Dunstan. :)
