I grew up watching this movie. It was something my dad and I would watch all the time. And sometimes we would randomly just say “toe pick.” To each other as a joke between us. My dad passed away three days ago. And I was searching through my DVD collection and found this movie, and watched it. One of my best childhood memories comes with this movie.

I met and talked with director Paul Michael Glasser who shared some interesting things about this movie... 1. Moira Kelly got the part because she went to the audition with her brother and they were fighting and everyone thought "this girl is tough enough to play the part" 2. Moira Kelly shot most of the movie with a broken leg... they shot her mostly above the waist to hide it. PMG specifically mentioned the scene where she was crawling around looking for her erring 3. PMG wanted to put in a scene where DB Sweeney was playing pond hockey at night with a bunch of cars pulled up along the sides of the banks with their lights on to show his love for the game

I was saying that while watching the movie. I thought there shoulda been a pond hockey scene since Kate was chastising him for the brutish hockey culture he comes from. Would’ve been nice to see her go out to talk with him while he’s on the pond and maybe that’s where they play the game of hockey they played. Would’ve represented her getting away from the structure and pristine condition of the rink and learning to embrace the rough but humble background of his

Best love declaration scene ever - bar none. I've seen all the famous ones but this is by far the most intense, the most 'real' I've seen in cinema. There's no music either between 0:01 and 1:32, aka something which works wonderfully because there's no audio distraction or 'manipulation' of the viewer's emotions via artificial means. The chemistry between the actors is 99% of the magic here.

This was the most inspirational movie ever for me. I saw this many times over recently when I discovered it online. It taught me that if you miss your first chance of an opportunity to suceed in your life take advantage of when the second opportunity comes to you or else you will regret it afterwards. The most important thing here is that love is powerful and can make people do things they never dreamed of doing. This was the best most emotional movie for me and in my life and I looked back at mine and said If I had a second chance I would make it better for myself in suceeding my dreams.

Here we can see that love compliments each other completely.... The guy being the macho ego of it all... Stands out in front of the girl he loves... And demands an answer... That being strong physically needs her in an opposite way... The girl meanwhile is caught up... And now must stand up in her own way and meet the challenge the guy offers... The not only the guy is prepared to embrace the love but she herself must also... By doing the impossible (the pavchenko) she proves to the guy that the love is not one sided that the girl also shall brave the consequences (and even surpass it)... Deeply moved on the line: Why did you do it? Because I love you, Remember who said it first is definitely the signature of the movie... Well done!!!

@dongilleo97434 жыл бұрын
The ending reminds me of the first Rocky movie. In that case, Rocky lost the fight, but many people don't even notice, because the important thing has been Rocky and Adrian falling in love. When they tell each other , "I love you", it really doesn't matter who won the fight, or in this movie, who won the gold medal. They're both love stories that take place in a boxing world, or a skating one.
