Hollywood will NEVER replicate or even come close to the movies of The 80's... "You look good wearing my future" Only John Hughes could champion such a line !

I would be dishonest, but only one movie has really the energy of coming of age and inspiration in it that has come up in these years which i hail as 'an emotional masterpiece'. Wonder(2017) Directed by Stephen Chbosky and starring Jacob tremblay, Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson. It might be the only one that is equal to John Hughes' coming of age films in the 80's. Also, really respect him as a director and a writer.

The reason why it would be impossible to remake this movie is because tomboys are being erased out of history and existence nowadays. The per-ervs who run Hollywood nowadays insist that the tomboy is an actual boy and the mechanic is destined to come out of the closet towards her who is actually a him in a her body. 🙄🤢

"I'd rather be right." For all his flaws, John Hughes knew how to write teenage characters who strove to be grownups, who were complex and wanted to do right, even if they didn't always achieve it. That's why his movies endure.

KG2018 I’ve mostly read Stoltz was considered annoying because he was a method actor and always wanted to remain in character. When I was a kid in the late 80s and early 90's my oldest sister used to make me watch these movies. Me being a kid thought they were pish. Now am 43yrs young and I watch these glorious masterpieces with my kids and now I get it. John Hughes was a revolutionary at filmmaking especially to do with teenage angst.

I'm 50 now. I didn't think that watching this now would still make me feel the same way I did when I saw this back in '87.

I'm 52 and it still has that same feeling as it did in 1987. A timeless movie for me. Won my heart the very first time i had seen it. Nothing like the 80's❤

Lea Thompson was so classy in this role I like how you would think she would be the typical popular bitchy queen but she was not at all. she had personality and elegance. John Hughes truly knew how to write these characters and movies! I'm so proud to be part of that generation growing up. The 80s rocked always and is still inspired today and always. The 80s will never die ❤

They don’t make men like that anymore.
@Swidhelm7 жыл бұрын
Yes they do. But men like that--people like that, with that kind of integrity, that kind of sense of self, that kind of dedication to those they care about, aren't as common as they should be. But they are around. And I bet you know some already. I find if you're genuine with people, and treat people with respect, you'll find others that do likewise. You'll find assholes and deceptive pricks too, and may get hurt in the process. But you cut them out of your life, and be there for the ones that treat you as you treat them.
