CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Evan (Ashton Kutcher) visits Kayleigh (Amy Smart) to ask her about some memories from their childhood.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Final Destination 2 screenwriters Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber make their directorial debut with the sci-fi thriller The Butterfly Effect. Evan Treborn (Ashton Kutcher with facial hair) wants to free himself from his disturbing childhood memories. As a kid, he often blacked out for long periods of time and tried to detail his life in a journal. As a young adult, he revisits the journal entries to figure out the truth about his troubled childhood friends Kayleigh (Amy Smart), Lenny (Elden Henson), and Tommy (William Lee Scott). When he discovers he can travel back in time in order to set things right, he tries to save his beloved friends. However, he finds out that relatively minor changes can make major problems for the future. The Butterfly Effect also stars Eric Stoltz, Ethan Suplee, and Melora Walters. The title was inspired by the story A Sound of Thunder by Ray Bradbury.

She had a good point. There really wasn't any reason for Evan to jump around to different timelines and try to alter things the way he thought was best. If he had done what he said and cared more for Kayleigh and Lenny and even Tommy, he could have fixed things on the current timeline.

He obviously didn't know how much Kayleigh actually loved him and how much influence he had on her and her brother's lives, the same with everyone else. It was for Evan alone she chose to live with her father. It was from there that he actually started wanting to have a relationship with Kayleigh. Then, why couldn't he had gone back just a few years and contacted her or at least a few days and had a catch-up in a café.

@@gustavopereira4924 When he earlier visited Lenny at his home, he was bound to do the same bs, probably bringing up the mailbox incident before Lenny threw into a fit of rage. If anything, like he could have asked Kayleigh to meet up with him at a café another time, he should have at least phoned Lenny's mother in advance and then asked if Lenny himself wanted to see or speak to him instead of just turning up at his house out of the blue.

You know maybe Kaleigh was right about what she said to Evan I mean for me every time when I go out and walk around and traveling around the streets around the neighborhood all I see is a lot of drama and violence because it's almost like the world is now turning into a nightmare because I don't see anything about being positive everything is all about being negative, and it's almost like we're all in hell now, because that almost proves to her or to me that nothing in this world never gets better and she was right about that.

You say that because you think in negative way. Don't see bad things on streets after you get miserable just think about good memories and positive things in your life example See a couple that is happy or kids play in playgrounds or people enjoying the views of their creations example a nice garden or a beautiful house happy things, happy life.

They can make you forget that you are watching 2 people act out a script. They lose themselves in their work. They have ability to portray authentic, memorable characters very well. I love them both. INCREDIBLE WORK. The fact that Amy was able to play someone so damaged....you can tell she LOVED the variety of roles and exploring her darker/painful side in order to access such authenticity. The proof of their chemistry is in the pudding. In real life, Astrologically speaking, they have matching moons. The moon rules your emotions , mind, and initial responses. They both have a moon in Aquarius. Even though that gives them a personal touch of “twin” energy (twin flames) but those with moon in Aquarius channel their emotions from a higher place. Another dimension :) Love this movie forever!!!!!

When I watched the entire movie again today ( I watched it already several times) I realised that the first time line was actually the most “liveable”one of them all. If he wouldn’t change anything but instead would try to be more caring with her, maybe getting a good job and marry her, then they could have still be together and at least she would have a better future. But with going back and mess everything up that’s where it started to end in killing someone. So that’s kinda a lesson that instead of trying to think about the past you could think about what can you do now to make it better. This movie has so much depth!

Evan time and time again changes time too clumsily, which is why the movie is so frustrating where it *shouldn't* have been. 1. Should have gone back a few days and had a proper catch up with Kayleigh or at least a few years after and contacted her. 2. Should have told their father to treat both siblings equally (his father always was badly beating Tommy, why make it worse?). 3. Should never have gave Lenny the metal shard if he was going to talk Tommy out of killing his dog anyway. 4. Just should stopped at 20 paces away from the mailbox (the lady still would have heard). 5. Should have taken the dynamite out of their house and gave it to police instead of lighting it to threaten their father (he could have also told the police about the molesting and abuse). 6. (theatrical cut) Should of just ignored Kayleigh instead of threatening a 5 year old girl. Only the directors cut ending made any kind of sense and satisfaction with an alteration.

1. He can only go back to times he blacked out in 2. Once something is done by him, it cannot be undone, he can only add to it. Sure, he could've tried to add more to what he said, but the mixed signals might've made things worse. 3. He probably assumed that it wouldn't work, and he needed a last resort measure just in case, I doubt he knew Lenny would go that far 4. Hindsight is nice, but he didn't get another shot at this 5. I agree 6. He had to be sure. He only gets one shot at this, and child him might approach post blackout if he only ignores her
