You'll find people like this at every workplace. Who abuse their position of power and hurt others simply because they can. I went through something like that for two and a half years and it completely numbed my emotions, I had to stay because of money, but it was just one humiliation after another. It kills your soul and emotions and self-esteem, even as an adult man. I can't even imagine what it must've been like to live in fear like in communist Soviet Union, in Cambodia during Pol Pot's regime, as a slave in North America or now in North Korea, etc. What it does to the minds and spirits of the human beings who have to endure constant fear, humiliation, violence, stepping on their basic rights, etc.

Most of you guys already know I'm sure, but this was based loosely on a True Story -- that of Andrei Chikatilo aka the "Rostov Ripper" aka "Butcher of Rostov". Sad Part is, he alluded capture for years because the Soviets really did believe only western capitalists committed murder. The real life killer was more odd than the movie portrayed -- he did serve in a medical unit in the war, he did some work in Drafting and later became a Teacher. On a related note, the Soviets also buried all documented wartime cases of cannibalism, particularly those that were a direct result of Forced Collectivization.
@brotpros2306
@brotpros2306 3 жыл бұрын
You have no clue what you are talking about. Chikatilo commited murders in the 80s long after the war. Also "Soviets only believe that Western commited murder" Did your brainwashed grandpa tell you this? If so why did Soviets have police force, because only capitalists commits murders? 🤦🏻‍♂️ He couldn't be caught for a long time because he was a sociopathic liar and because of incompetence of local policemen who butchered evidence and accused wrong guy of the murders. As for cannibalism, won't even argue about your brainwashing here. Educate yourself.

It's just a German BS to make them feel better of what they done to people back in the war, and promoted by the allies later on as an other new reason to humiliate the USSR , and the rest of the Eastern European Communist countries which fought Germany. German people would not care adding another bad person to the stage just for the sake of saying "we were not alone", and actually, the disasters of which the German people claim they been through the war are nothing compared to what they did to their enemies(Which also they created, nobody just decided to go on and attack Germany for nothing). Long story short, everything they have been through is a cause of their OWN behavior, I do not think like I need to defend the USSR as it basically have not done it, there are no documented evidence, nothing.

The accents truly ruined this movie, I don't see why they do this? It doesn't make any sense, is it to constantly remind us that the characters are Russians? Russians don't hear each other with accents, they just hear Russian -we are hearing the dialogue through the characters ears, but translated to English, so it should be just normal English -no accent. It would be like if Russians made a movie set in USA and all the characters spoke Russian, but with a fake English accent.

@leafleap
@leafleap 4 жыл бұрын
@@jaymunchy6481 Wait, are you saying its more comfortable hearing an actor contort their grammar and pronunciations in order to sound more foreign, rather than just speaking normally and intelligibly? When they speak with accents it becomes borderline satirical, the characters almost become portrayed as caricatures. Its hard to take it seriously and the acting suffers. Watch HBOs Chernobyl and tell me if you'd rather have the actors put on an accent or leave it as be. I'm not saying they should make the actors try to speak Russian, that would have been even more of an ear torture than it already is, and if that was the case then they should have just gone with an all native Russian speaking cast instead.
