@julieenslow59153 жыл бұрын
Actually - they put their foot down on that later. But in the original Star Trek, Kirk was always going where he shouldn't go. So they are treating it as if Starfleet in the early years had no understanding of the importance of preserving the command of a ship, but learned later. On TNG, Picard did not do the dangerous missions - that was Richter's job. Etc.

This was a very exciting movie. There are so many nay sayers yet I believe in all three alternate universe films. When my dad and I watched TOS back in the 1960s, it was our favorite TV series ever. I believe he would have enjoyed these new additions to the ‘Star Trek’ vision. Benedict Cumberbatch was excellent as Khan. His Kahn seemed much more cunning and diabolical. The new cast are superb and have honored the original cast.
@eaaeeeea3 жыл бұрын
I salute you for being open to new things. Indeed some 'purists' pick a story from a certain time period and stick to it fanatically, robbing themselves of new enjoyable experiences. I too have enjoyed J.J. Abrams movies and prefer them over any older ST movies, although as a series I've enjoyed TNG the most. As for mr. Cumberbatch as Khan, I'd go as far as to say he was exceptional.

@hbdragon889 ай бұрын
Into Darkness was awful and I'm someone whose first ST movie was the 2009 one. The worst was all the cloak and daggers about "John Harrison" but nobody in the Kelvin timeline knows who Khan is...clearly just a "remember berry" for the audience. Having all of Starfleet gather in the same room without any guard was pretty idiotic to be honest. The Khan and Spock chase and fight the end was really fun, I'll give it that. Other than that, no.

The only thing i can think of is it being a munitions loading hatch for torpedoes etc. Considering this was a purely combat focused ship it makes some sense.
@Slemoster5 жыл бұрын
As the name suggests, an escape. Submarines have similar hatches that are used almost exclusively for escaping a sinking sub. But the other suggestion of it being a munitions loading door is also a good one. Both are plausible answers considering the hatch leads to what appears to be a long corridor which likely runs the length or width of the ship, making it a perfect point to have both a munitions loading bay door, and an escape hatch.
@scottmatheson33465 жыл бұрын

I'm sorry for this stupid question but can someone explain to me how the enemy got sucked out and Kirk/Khan were sucked in? Wouldn't that mean the inside of the ship was a vacuum of space as well? I get that they were using momentum from their jetpacks to come in but I don't understand how that works like physics-wise?
@sethjeppson56805 жыл бұрын
I don't really know what I'm talking about but it makes sense that they were already in space with a huge amount of momentum and the guard was in the ship when it opened so the vacuum sucked him out but Khan and kirks momentum was great enough to have them simply fly through. just a guess though 🤷♂️
@onbored96275 жыл бұрын
they were going fast enough that the air rushing by just helped to slow them down. considering they calculated everything else, I imagine they factored this into whether or not they could make it safely. Basically, it softened the landing.
