FILM DESCRIPTION:
A family living in a gated community fight to defend their home against vicious attackers during the one night each year when all crime is legal in this high-concept thriller from writer/director James DeMonaco (Staten Island). In the not-too-distant future, rampant crime and prison overcrowding have inspired the U.S. government to implement a unique solution to restore the peace: Each year, for a 12-hour period, any and all crime becomes permissible as police put their jobs on hold, and hospitals close their doors. It's called the Purge, and remarkably, the annual event leads to drastically reduced crime and record-low unemployment levels throughout the rest of the year. But this year, as suburban parents James (Ethan Hawke) and Mary (Lena Headey) place their home on lockdown for the annual event, a desperate man finds his way into their neighborhood while fleeing a sadistic gang of masked killers. In a moment of compassion, James and Mary's adolescent son (Max Burkholder) unlocks the door, offering sanctuary to the frightened stranger. Unfortunately for the entire family, that act of kindness may also be their very last, because now the killers who were pursuing the man have surrounded the house, and have vowed to kill everyone inside unless they are willingly given the man they are hunting within an hour. I think the film makers missed an opportunity at 1:45. The seal of the US depicts the eagle clutching an olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other - reflecting the willingness of the the US to engage in war (arrows) but also to seek peace (olive branch). The eagle's head normally points towards the branch to reflect that the nation wishes to resolve issues peacefully but during times of war the eagles head will be flipped to face the other direction - the last time this happened being during WWII. But for the purge I would have moved the eagles head toward the arrows during the broadcast to reflect the fact the the country now condones and encourages violence. Then at 7:00am there should be another broadcast ending the purge with the eagle facing back towards the olive branch again.

+Xavier Moncada-Martin +Andrew Budd Well to be honest, albeit excluding the Purge scenario, Batman and the Punisher have already met, non-canonically, in the comics. Both events were actually called "Punisher/Batman". - the first one was after Bane broke Bruce Wayne's back. Castle then met the more violent Jean-Paul Valley Batman, aka "Azrael Batman". not THE Batman; Castle lost the fight; - the second one was after Wayne's return, featuring a more "classic" batman. There was really not much of a fight: Castle threw a punch on Bats (with Bats knowingly letting it happen so Castle could chill out), and when Castle tried a second punch, Bats threw him agains a wall. ....And that's that. Not the best cross-over I've ever seen. The recent "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vs.Batman" is by far a better one (Bats fending off agains the 4 brothers at the same time, and winning!)

Getting a holiday to Europe would be super tough, you'd have to book ages in advance, lots of people would be flying out at that time, prices jumping up you'd have to leave a few days before get back a few days after etc. My solution, you've got good money. Buy a nice boat, sail out, find a nice calm patch of water, anchor down, have the radar set pretty loud and you'll have plenty of notice if any other boats come out anywhere near you, but at night, if you keeps the lights down, chances are no one will have a clue where you are
