CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Eragon (Ed Speelers) faces Durza (Robert Carlyle) in battle in the air.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Industrial Light and Magic special-effects wizard Stefen Fangmeier makes the leap into the director's chair with this coming-of-age fantasy concerning a young boy whose discovery of a mysterious dragon egg leads him on a predestined journey to become a Dragon Rider and defend his peaceful world against an evil king. Based on the best-selling novel by Christopher Paolini, Eragon tells the tale of the titular character (Ed Speleers), a humble farm boy living in the land of Alagasia, whose life is forever changed when he discovers that he has been chosen to fight the most powerful enemy his world has ever known. Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich, and Djimon Hounsou co-star in a film produced by Davis Entertainment and adapted from the novel by screenwriters Peter Buchman, Larry Konner, and Mark Rosenthal.

Honestly it would work better as some kind of animated series. The budget needed to do this properly would rival this of GoT. They had great dragons in GoT but there were relatively few scenes with them while with Inheritance you'd have to have Saphira in every other shot. The cost would just to great.

I watched the movie because all my (bookreading) friends said how bad it was. And I was like: What the hell dudes, I mean, it isn't lord of the rings, but come on, it has some good fight scenes and special effects. After I've read the book, I can understand why they were upset. The movie itself isn't that bad, it just has nearly nothing to do with the book. If you haven't read the book, you can more or less enjoy a decent fantasymovie

Honestly I really enjoyed the movie. I was even looking forward for a sequel back as a child but that never happened. From the sound of it I can tell the book might be more interesting but can't people just enjoy the movie for how it is instead of comparing it to the book? I really enjoyed Saphira. She was elegant while Eragon himself was not bad either.

They need to make a show for the books. Too much stuff in the books for movies. And for anyone that hasn't read the books, the movie is a disgrace to them. A well made series of the books like how game of thrones did would be a hit, I'm telling you.
@MatiZ815
@MatiZ815 7 жыл бұрын
Impossible. Do you realize how much money it would cost to make a good looking CGI for a dragon? GoT does well because it's a low fantasy story and they're using dragons sparingly. But here we're talking about a CGI character that needs to be on screen almost all the time. And because of that dragon would need to look even better than the ones in GoT. Not to mention that Eragon is a high fantasy: there's a lot more magic in this world that would require special effects. TV show won't work.

There has yet to be a movie in existence that has been better than the book it was based off of. If you have not read the books, you are missing out on a tremendous amount of story. It's kind of a tradeoff. The movie was trash, crammed in too much, uninteresting characters, unfocused plot, and complete inaccuracy from its source material spoke for itself. However, the movie's one redeeming quality was the effects, specifically Saphira. For 2006, her CGI was impressive in every sense of the word, and nobody got tired of looking at her. However, if a TV series of Eragon was made, the story would've been better put together, characters would've been fleshed out better, and would've stayed FAR more true to the book. However, with that said, there wouldn't be enough money for great effects, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, they all suffered from poor CGI, and it would be a safe assumption Saphira would be an absolute eyesore for everybody watching.

As bad as the movie is after reading the books, the one thing I think it did a lot better was having this fight with the Shadow Dragon and it beings a Rider versus Rider battle. This would have been great in the first book, though I would say it would have gone better if Eragon somehow tackled him off and then they had their book confrontation while Sapphira continued her battle with the fake Dragon
@masonhill5157

I prefer what happened in the book because first eragon was not ready for that kind of fight and two the magic it would take to make a shadow dragon.... goes way beyond even what a shade could do. He literally created life which the rules of magic would have been constantly draining durza none stop. He may be spirit possessed and supernatural but even they have their limits. Plus in the books it was a important moment due to eragon literally almost dieing by his hands and was only saved because of arya and sapphira but even then he had to wrestle with the spirits leaving durza mentally and had to be shielded by his soon to be mentor orimis who was miles away but used magic to save him and established the cripple who is whole was very powerful.

I got an idea: "The Inheritance Cycle: Eragon" from Warner Brothers or 20th Century Fox (again lol) Director: Peter Jackson(?) Composer: John Powell or Andrew Lockington William Moseley as Eragon Jeremy Irons as Brom (Still a nice choice lol) Mark Hamill as Durza Megan Fox as Arya Adam Driver as Murtagh Zoe Saldana as Nasuada Djimon Hounsou (same response as Jeremy Irons lol) as Ajihad Billy Connolly (digitally minimized) as Hrothgar And Rachel Weisz (still a good voice), or Scarlett Johannson, or Emma Watson as the voice of Saphira What do you think :) Feel free to maybe share ideas any of you guys (make that all who see this comment lol) have about a hypothetical remake ;)

+Brandon Yan Looking back on it now, maybe someone else, like Alexandria Daddario or Anna Kendrick. I still don't really see why people hate her so much :/ As for Hamill, I think while he's done plenty of good animated villains, I say he could try a live-action villain for once, you know? But if not Hamill, maybe Tom Hiddleston or maybe even Liam Neeson (again, he needs more live-action villain roles).

This movie could have been so great. The casting was perfect. The acting was great. Saphiras design and voice actor were on point for her character. The visual effects and soundtrack were stunning. It's the story that failed. I will say my favorite scene was the funeral scene. I feel like out of all the scenes, that one is the one the movie did better than the book.

Instead of a movie tetralogy adaptation of the Inheritance Cycle books, they should make a TV series because there's way too much content crammed into the books to be adapted into films. The same can be said for Game of Thrones, and I have a feeling a TV show adaptation of these books would be fantastic.

@honzasenbauer612 6 жыл бұрын

@trueblue6201
@trueblue6201 4 жыл бұрын
The issue with that is this series would be more expensive. Game of thrones was able to do their dragons sparingly usually in never more than half a season. Saphira is a main character and one that would need to have expressions that can be read. In addition you have the magic cgi, other dragons, sets, and costume design. As much as I would love this being adapted as show it would have a nightmarish budget to produce it. Not to mention that the Inheritance Cycle has gotten mixed reviews as books and negative reviews as a film. It would be very hard to make a tv show out of it and would provide a late season Game of Throne budget to the show for their first season. They would have to take so many cheats to save money on Saphira that I guarantee it would get negative reviews for that alone.

This is one of the very few films that exist where even though it’s appalling how much they left out of the film from the book, and no matter how atrocious the adaptation is, it’s a film that has its moments of brilliance. The CGI is on par with some of the best by 2006 standards, so much so that I dare say it even still holds up kind of. The score is truly epic, and the way Robert Carlyle commands the attention of the audience with his sadistic villain. It’s truly is something incredible to see. Despite the obvious egregious flaws in the overall film, I can always watch this scene and feel something different from what is put out today.

I honestly went to buy the book because of the movie, and while reading there were some choices that disappointed me a bit, I won't point them all out but just to make an example, the scene when Brom died, the Ra'zac managed to capture them and the dragon, then they were scared off by an arrow shot by one single person that was moving in the bushes...And they thought it was a good idea to kill Eragon so they threw a dagger at him and Brom did the same thing he did in the movie, shielding him. It didn't give me the same strong emotion of the scene in the movie. This is just one of the scenes I didn't like, but overall I disliked some of the characters I used to like, like Brom from the book, and Saphira from the book, it felt weird for her to call him things like "little one" or something similar, being often childish and over aggressive for no reason, I preferred they way she stood up for herself in the movie, keeping her cool but also expressing her wild behaviour without being a brat, and actually being patient with Eragon, I still liked Murtagh but maybe he's the only one I kept liking in the book, he was interesting and I liked when he talked about his personal encounter with the King, while I think Durza made a lot less things than in the movie, he was less present, had less dialogues and I wasn't expecting his final battle to be so short, with few words about his backstory thrown there like that and I don't know, I liked all the things he did in the movie, the spells and the fact that we see he was still trying to find Eragon, even poisoning the elf from a far distance. The Arya from the book was quite cold and didn't say anything that made me interested in her as a character. I also think they weren't planning on making a sequel since they didn't put the cat in the movie, which by what I understood reveals the most important prophecy. And they made an open final. In the end I got my reasons to like the movie and the ps2 game far better than the book, it's about some of the choices that were made, things they added and things they cut that I approved, the book is just not for me, but it's not a bad book.

@@calebthecatfish8231 Might be true for some, but I personally grew up by watching the movie and playing the ps2 and ds games. I think the movie it's clearly an interpretation of the same story and overall I did prefer it over the book. Some of my expectations were crushed right half way of the reading and that's why after finishing the book I gave it away to a friend who enjoyed it far more than I did and I never went on buying the others, even if I did search for their plot online. There were just so many things of the first that disappointed me, so in my case we could say that the book ruined my experiece with the story. One other example to add to the previous ones: I didn't like the fact that he had to turn into an elf to be considered a True Dragon Rider, in the movie he simply did what he had to and then he got to live the rest of his life like he wanted. Then I alredy said why I didn't like Saphira and Arya, absolutely hated how Durza was barely present and the list goes on. That said, everyone has their preferences, there might be those who prefer only the book, those who like them both, and those like me who enjoyed the movie instead.
