Straight Out of Brooklyn Trailer - Directed by Matty Rich and starring George T. Odom, Larry Gilliard Jr., Matty Rich, Mark Malone, Ali A. Wahhab. Matty Rich's Straight out of Brooklyn is an unflinching portrait of an African-American family struggling to survive in a Brooklyn housing project. The family's oldest son (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) decides that the easiest way to get his family out of the projects is by robbing a local drug dealer, but that plan turns disastrous when the pusher and his gang track the boy and his family down.

I grew up in the Red Hook projects and knew Matty Rich very well, I remember when we all found out he was making this movie and a lot of people were begging to be in the movie! Lol the good ole days!!! BK 4 Life!!!

I've never forgotten that scene ... especially how it ended ... Damn! This movie was very well done for being done by a kid... very impactdiul. I felt that way even seeing it as a kid myself back in 91 ... the ending actually made me drop a few tears

this definitely was a true story of the 60s or 70s in NY. All this drug stuff happened first in NY. Lots of stories that young 19yr old director knew of.
