A beautiful and very moving film with lots of cultural and social layers. So refreshing to return to something from another time when film's had atmosphere, the interior sets were so lovingly done. The actors are outstanding in this film, especially Eric Thal, what a wonderful character, really inspiring to see how he stayed true to himself and such a truly loving man. He inspired Emily to also be true to herself, that's very healing for a woman's soul.

‚Does the Rabbi understand what I’m saying’ - ‚The Rabbi speaks eight languages’ - ‚Is English one of them?’ = Condescending and backwards, like the 1980s. And investivating a disappearance: „What are those?” (touching his peyas) - „Peyas” The scene where the unmarried woman policeofficerc (Melanie Griffith) is talking to Ariel in the middle of the night is also unrealistic, not mentioning him visiting her apartment at night, this is idiocy - Hasidic men and women don’t talk at all unless they’re married.

While a lot is pretty spot on, there are a lot of inaccuracies as well. A Satmar man (Chasid from Williamsburg) would never look any woman in the eye other than his wife, mother, sisters or daughters. When the actors recite the prayers they would never say, 'adonoi' because it is using the name of the Lord not as a blessing but for for the script; they would instead say, 'Hashem' which means, 'The Name." Also, Never would a Chassidish man listen to the sound of a woman's voice when she is singing. Never. But in a lot of ways it came close. Good movie

Yet, good job for production writer, actors & crew. " a restrictive life, I am able to appreciate their devotion to G-D and The Torah!!!..." The religious/ observants' perceptions are as if they are being held close to the infinite Creator of the Universe & of all existence by following the Millenium old religious blueprint.
