The Escape theme from Metroid has a secret most people wouldn't encounter. Made this video so more people can hear about this.

I knew waiting up to a year or two for sometimes badly optimised games would have a bonus somewhere.

I wish Nintendo would freaking release these games on new platforms. I could only play Metroid Fusion on this flash emulator and we all know where that is now

Didn't the famicom in Japan have one more sound channel than the NES? Correct me if I'm wrong but i think thats why they have an extra melody, and I'm pretty sure a bunch of nes songs had "additions" in japan?

There is no extra sound hardware in the Famicom itself, the base hardware is identical between a Famicom and an NES. As mentioned in the video, the third section in this track is found only in the NA and PAL versions, and is absent from the original Japanese release. There is an extra wavetable channel in the Famicom Disk System RAM adapter, but that is irrelevant to this video, as Metroid uses said wavetable sound exclusively for sound effects apart from the title screen and ending music, with all in-game music being on the 2A03 only, so even if the third section of this track was present in the Japanese release it wouldn't use the FDS sound hardware for any music.
