I interpreted that being “predisposed to sin” meant something that you normally suppressed but you really wanted to do: - The philanthropist normally makes money for others but actually wants to make some for himself - The priest normally lives a simple life without any wealth or possessions but actually would love to have these things for himself - Leo’s life before and after death is work work work so he just wants to chill and relax - Prue is always focused on the greater good and saving lives but she never gets any credit for what she does and wants to be recognised With the others it’s not as clear: - Maybe Phoebe has to normally tone down her lust as it’s not socially acceptable to love sex as much as she does - Maybe Piper is normally ordered and focused on budgeting/saving and calories and wants to spend money/eat and uses her credit card and personal gain powers to get what she really wants - Maybe the cop has suppressed anger issues that he’s fighting to keep down on a daily basis I personally would be sloth. I fight this sin on a daily basis and sometimes it’s quite exhausting!

There's a topic I'd like to discuss-the meaning of the sin Sloth. It's difficult to actually nail down its true meaning. Laziness is the go-to, but that’s just scratching the surface. Historians lean more towards apathy, where you don't engage in the deeper aspects of life, such as personal growth, relationships, and a connection to a higher purpose. Of course Charmed, being Charmed, would stick to the surface-level take on things.
@treefrog101811 ай бұрын

The Charmed Ones in latter season would be great exemple of this sin
@evieb635911 ай бұрын
Not sure if they do in this episode, but they do refer to Leo as a dead guy a lot. Maybe that's why he's sloth: he's static, unable to grow or change (except all the times when he totally does)?
@TheCrippledEgg11 ай бұрын
The "Charmed Ones get influenced by magic, wacky scenarios ensue" trope gets done to death on this show, but Sin Francisco is probably the best example of it. The sins are actually quite introspective of the characters and not just for the sake of comic relief. Probably the best example is Prue having pride. It shows that for all her heroism and bravery, there is a hint of narcissism to it. Prue being a superwitch this season could easily delve into Mary Sue territory, but this helps balance her character out. The only sin that doesn't make sense is Leo having sloth. He's like the busiest person in the household.

I understood the canceling out of the sins to be the act of going against the sin. So, like, Leo gets up and does something, canceling out his laziness, Pheobe attacks the guy who she wants to sleep with, canceling her lust, and then Prue needs to cancel out her pride by accepting help, either from her sisters or Leo or whatever. This was purely a headcanon, since Leo does have the line about "doing something selfess" but it still makes sense and kind of fits?
@urahara6436011 ай бұрын
I think that could work as an explanation. I was thinking for Prue it would have to be something like doing that selfless feed and not taking any credit for it.

Hi there, been a fan of your channel for a while. Thanks for all the funny and enjoyable videos you both have put out. Question, curious if you have been following the news of Shannen Doherty & Holly Marie Combs telling their truth about the reasons why Shannen left charmed on a podcast? Recently, Alyssa has responded by denying their truth plus saying "it's sad people can't move on from the past." The moment I read that, your voice ecos in my head, speaking as the way you impersonate as Phoebe: "Goss Cole, why can't you just move on!!" And then it transpired to: "Goss Shannen, so what if I got you fired from our show and said a bunch of nasty hurtful things towards you, I don't wanna take accountability just like the way my character Phoebe does not take accountability for turning into Queen of all evil, drag Cole through Hell and blaming every mistakes made on him. So just move on Shannen! " And that's how I am understanding Alyssa's actions It makes me wonder, how much of the Phoebe character is actually Alyssa and not just fiction?

what would have made more sense to me if the original plan was the sin you're most predisposed to. but the demon is twisting it and infecting people who are the opposite. like the pastor being envious, the cop being angry, etc. like instead of a sin you could also make it a curse. also when you made the joke of leo teleporting with a fart made me remember macy's cloud teleporting knocking her mother through a window when she was jumping timelines in the reboot. so if leo had done that teleported and knocked someone through a window because he was lazy. that'd be awkward.

Lazy Leo saying "probably..." might be my favorite line from the show now. By the way, Prue, Piper, Paige, Grandma Ghost, Darryl, and the lazy man himself will all be at 90s con in Daytona in mid-September, you guys should definitely go. It would be amazing, you could get Darryl to say "I don't wanna know..." and have Piper blow Leo up with a click of the wrist...kidding. But you should go...I'm really going to try to, and it should be a juicy panel since Shannen Doherty has finally let the car out of the bag about what happened. I'm excited at the prospect. I'd personally love to meet you and Phelous more than anyone else there...except, of course, for Grandma Ghost. I am a Stan of hers. Sadly.

I actually think lazy Leo is the result of it being the thing he really wants but is too much of a weeny to do. I can even see it possibly fitting with the pastor/priest who covets the things that others have because of his own vow of poverty or something similar. The one that I'm a little iffy on is piper and gluttony. I think it's because greed was already used earlier in the episode because hers kind of blurs that line a bit too much for me I can see the vague outline of a script here that maybe could have worked better with a little less sloppy.

the plot of the episode really suffers from the looseness of the sin concept, it's either a great exploration of the main characters's flaws and issues (prue's pride is getting the best of her culminatig in influencing her death later this season; phoebe's lust and subsequent shallowness prevented her from taking her life seriously in the past and will prevent her from doing meaningful work later on in the show) or it's a gimmick showing the ways in which they repress parts of themselves for others and act somewhat self destructive (leo works his ass off for everyone without anyone recognising it and piper ... makes food? they want to paint her as a provider and she real had that martyrdom complex in the beginning of the show, but it was never about having enough stuff, more about staying in her comfort zone, in fact laziness would have been more interesting with her) also did they not have access or the means to pay for julian macmahon in this episode? because it looks like the cop character's role was made for cole, aner would fit his struggle being a demon and could explore the way he might supress his emotions to avoid doing bad things (maybe even some resentment he wouldn't accept being put in danger throuh his love for phoebe) and phoebe's lust would be the exploration of the walls she builds herself subconsciously to prevent diving too deep into the emotional vulnerable parts of a complicated relationship (that would explain the conversation at the beginning of the episode and the fact her adultery in never brought up ever make sense and the scene where cop guy enters and threaten the charmed ones be more compelling)
