Welcome to Movie Shortens. It's 1960 in London. Laura Quinn works for London Diamond Corporation. She is dissatisfied because her abilities are rarely recognized, but she isn't promoted as she is a female. When the night janitor, Mr. Hobbs, approaches her with a simple plan to steal a handful of diamonds from the vault, she is shocked but becomes interested in. When learning that the company will terminate her contract, Laura agrees to assist Mr. Hobbs. And it doesn't take long for insurance investigator Mr. Finch to have his sights set on her.

A somewhat incompetent woman get to know she's about to get fired, and agree to rob her company with a man who made the whole plan, man does rob the diamonds almost by himself and hide them cleverly, woman get so scared and try to hand him to the police but ultimately decides to tell the police where the diamonds are and steal a big diamond anyway and take the full credit for finding the diamonds and quit the job anyway. How is that inspirational? Lol, I feel ashamed that a thief with no backbone is considered inspirational for women. Garbage

I need to know how you seek validation of 100 likes on some fuckall comment, on some fuckall platform by strangers as rewarding? Is your life that worthless? For some it's thousands/million likes, for some it's 10 or even a 100. But I mean is this what internet access has turned people into? This psycho-fanaticism linking identity validation is like a drug, and it is something that really interests me about human behaviour. I would imagine, people like you will lick my feet if I pander to your caste/religion/identity/rituals/habits. If I can give you an indentity, then I can own you. Maybe your politician is already doing it. You just don't realise it yet.

diamonds that are already cut only have value in the form their cut. and the places where jewelry is mass produced can get diamonds cheaper where they are. so if you melt down a bunch of jewelry and collect the diamonds. they will obviously sell on the lower end if your not in a manufacturing hub relevant to their cut. so gold is naturally better as its form can easily be changed without losing weight, its applications exist everywhere in more diverse forms, and its easily tested. but diamonds are still valuable.

Where would she cash it in? In 1960, all trade in diamonds is monopolized by Debeers cartel. If she wants to sell the diamonds, she would need to contact a Debeers agent who will appraise and give her a price, and if she refuse the price, she won't be able to sell them anywhere else. But if the agent comes, he would instantly know that those are stolen diamonds. That's why the janitor's method of getting a ransom for it is the only way to go.

When you have to add propaganda in a movie, you muddy the plot and the character arc!

No wonder they didn't promote her. They try to make it seem like it was some sexist thing, but clearly she just wasn't good at her job and didn't have the right skill set to survive in a high-paced corporate world. She stole credit for others work, had almost no critical thinking, actively tried to ruin good plans, and had no tenacity or conviction to see things through. Those are all atrocious traits in an executive and something everyone else around her saw and didn't want to promote.

Funny how Alfred here plays a role that plots out revenge against an insurance firm and then later on players another role wherein he is the owner of an insurance company that fails to pay victims.
