The lad that was Fred died in 2021 he was on his bicycle and hit by a car in Chicago and jack black was heartbroken when he died as he was only 32

I love how basically everyone in the movie is right about their critiques of dewies character but he manages to compensate by being an innately incredible music teacher and earns everyone's hearts in spite of his flaws. Its an unusual but interesting moral

This is hands down one of my favorites movies that my dad took me too when I was a kid, we bought the dvd and the commentary track is done by the kids! I thought it was the coolest thing ever and now as an adult I just find it really fun and charming.

Man, I was obsessed with this movie as a tweenager. At the time I played cello and piano, and it got me into playing both electric guitar and bass (obviously, as a kid I was swayed by "celloOoOo, you've got a bass!"). Still holds up great as an adult. Also "School of Teachers" is the sequel we both need AND deserve.

Doing the math 650 per week is about 33800 per year in 2003, with today's inflation that would be about 54k per year which is about 15k more than the average substitute teacher's salary is in the state they get paid the most which is Nevada. So 650 per week, while still not enough for a teacher, let alone a private school one, in my opinion, is actually really good in comparison to other sub teacher salaries.... sadly

Love this movie. I try to give Sarah Silverman character a break because I mean technically she is being the responsible adult and doing the right thing. These are young kids who are skipping school, and going off with someone their parents don't know or approve of, to play in a battle of bands with adults which their parents also don't know or approve of. If this was realistic the sequel would have been Jack black making a rock band in prison
