I agree with you on Lily. I never liked her either. She's much better in the second one though. And at least she's self aware when she says "I need an attitude adjustment."
@ma.20893 жыл бұрын
I mean it was pretty obvious what her issue was, and it resolved really quickly. She didn’t do anything bad afterwards either. In fact, it’s in part Lily’s encouragement that Mia decided to take the throne
@razkable2 жыл бұрын
To be fair she was with Mia when she was a nobody her brother liked her and she is a teenager...lets give her a break..through thick and thin you stay loyal to your real pals cause like family they will be there for you before and after the good times...she didn't become her friend cause she was royal and she didn't stop being her pal after finding out either...
@BeeKee4043 жыл бұрын
Little fun fact, the scene when Mia fell on the bleachers was not scripted. Anne actually did fall and it was kept in! 😂 Such a classic film! Can't wait to see you react to the sequel. Something someone else pointed out that I really liked is that its cool how Mia had such a realistic reaction to being told she's a princess. Like she wasn't all "oh I'm a princess! I get to wear pretty gowns and be rich and be admired!" Instead she was rightfully freaked out and also rightfully pissed at her mom for not telling her. I also love how everyone who isn't Josh and Anna who both can go eff off owned up on their mistakes like Clarisse apologized for jumping to conclusions about the beach party, Lily admitted to needing an attitude adjustment and Mia proved how much Michael means to her and that he wasn't just a second option next to Josh. Also even though the mom didn't really apologize for not telling Mia about her father's past, she still showed to be a loving mother who cares.

It's actually because of Julie Andrews the dad is dead in the movies. They told Meg their plans, so she asked who they got as the queen. They told her, and she was like, "Kill the dad!"
@StoryMing3 жыл бұрын
Wait-- what? The dad being dead is kind of an essential plot point, since it's the whole reason why Mia has to decide on taking on the whole princess thing?
@emki7213 жыл бұрын
@@StoryMing yeah no in the book he’s entirely alive and he’s also a dick. So is Julie Andrews character for that matter. The movie is almost entirely different from the book besides the basic plot of “high school girl finds out she’s a princess and needs to adjust”

@@StoryMing The dad and grandma in the books are awful people lol but for the movie it was a good choice to do it this way, Julie Andrews is iconic
@jediavatarmage0723 жыл бұрын
Actually, if I recall it was Disney who decided to nix the dad because in the books, Mia's dad was alive but was diagnosed with testicular cancer. This led him to be infertile and Mia was the only heir to the throne. Of course, Disney being Disney, didn't want to have to showcase THAT.

One of the things that always bothered me that was probably due to when the film came out but was that it wasn't acknowledged that Mia was assaulted and sexually harassed. He grabbed her, force a kiss and then two seconds later, they expose her, A MINOR, to a bunch of adults to photograph her when she's changing out of a swimsuit.

haha always love to see your videos! Your enthusiasm, sassiness, and astute awareness of which characters are being assholes and when is personally really satisfying for me! It's interesting that you felt the director didn't really establish the love between Michael and Mia throughout the movie; I'd like to think that the movie is from the perspective of Mia, and because he's invisible to her, he's invisible to us as the audience as well. Can't wait for your next reaction, buddy! :) Edit: LOVE the thumbnail of you with the tiara 😂😂
@musiclover_kb49133 жыл бұрын
There r 2 deleted scenes that involve Mia and Michael. One shows them actually going on a date and the other show's Michael's genuine reaction to Mia being a princess. The date scene was cut because Garry Marshall felt it would've made Mia look bad if she was spending all this time connecting with Michael, and then fleetingly going on a date with Josh, like she was leading Michael on.
