4:07 I love that part because it's so classy and elegant but with zero emotion. Davy Jones' worn little music box emits 100x more feeling than what Beckett would describe as "emotional", he's so detached. 5:05 is more "true" emotional core for Beckett, it's full of ambition and petty anger and bitterness and a need to control, far darker than Jones' very human, tormenting rage. The theme in full sounds like walking on eggshells. Barbossa theme is adventure-loving and unyielding and determined, Davy Jones is tragic and this sounds like calculating narcissism and ego-mania.

2:28 is my favorite, since it begins in that sophisticated and yet still ominous way, which eventually gives in to the increasingly darker and angrier tones. This right here is the essence of Beckett.

Cutler Beckett has several things in common with Napoleon I Bonaparte: blue eyes, wearing a frock coat and high boots, both are short, also wore a crooked wig, left-handedness, wearing a double-cornered hat, megalomania, self-esteem and love of power, both use white horses. You can find a parallel between Beckett's giant armada and Napoleon's Great Army. And, just like Bonaparte, Beckett preferred death to defeat (Napoleon attempted suicide after defeat and abdication in 1814, but survived).
