It's probably best to just get a good general setting and not try to dial in precise settings on the capture. My experience is that even on a small 50 foot reel, you have many changes in light, hue, indoor and outdoor, etc. Best to chop up the individual scenes after the capture and make precise white balance and color adjustments on the editing software in post-production. Drastic changes in exposure on a single reel may make it necessary to make 2 passes (if you want to get really precise later) - one capture with a higher exposure for a dark section of the reel, then a lower exposure capture for the lighter scenes on the reel - then chop apart and rejoin scenes later to get the best of both passes. It can get really involved depending on how good you want the final output to be.

There seems to be no information on where I can buy any Retro unit or for how much. As much as I would like to support something made in the USA, it seems my only recourse is to buy something from overseas.

I have the Retro 8 unit and I'm running into an issue with the bulb. It works fine when in set-up mode but the bulb doesnt turn on when in run mode. Any ideas? I've had the unit for 10 years and it's worked great this whole time.

HEY TOBY. Sorry, I am just seeing this. I sold my machine many years ago. Have you reached out to Roger at Moviestuff. He is a good guy. Drop him an email and ask him for some advice. He won't fix it but he may have advice. Sorry, I could not help.

Hi Keith, I have the exact Retro-8 scanner as you do. I had it on my old PC and downloaded it on my new computer with Windows 10. It shows up but on my screen, scanner is working but no show on the computer. Is there a different software?

Sorry I can’t help you with this one. I have a different Movie Stuff machine now. Probably not the issue, but did you double check quicktime is installed. Again, I don’t think that is it, but you never know. I’d right Roger at Moviestuff. He is very helpful with troubleshooting. Best-

@@keithtomshe1228 Hi Keith, I got in touch with Roger and was able to start scanning a whole reel. But when I placed the second one, it shows it scrolling through numerous frames. I adjusted the settings for the spoket holes and even tried to adjust the frames.
