Personally I'm glad there wasn't a romance at the end. I've always hated her character for slapping Bruce. Raising a hand against a traumatized individual is just disgusting. If the roles were reversed and Bruce had slapped her, it would have been equally distasteful.

Funny story - Nolan wanted Gary Oldman to play "Ras Al Gul" the villain, but Gary was at a point in his life where he began thinking of his kids & almost all of his parts were weird, crazy or villains. He wanted to play a good guy so they could see Dad more like his real personality. Nolan admired him so much as an actor that he agreed & got Liam Neeson for the bad guy.

Alfred Pennyworth and Lucius Fox feature pretty heavily in the comics stories as two of Batman and Bruce Wayne's best allies both in crime-fighting in and out of the Batman suit. Alfred's always been cast in all the Batman films by good actors, but I was relieved when they said Lucius was going to be a big part of the story and that Morgan Freeman was going to play him.

The movie "Joker" is not canon to the origin of the Joker. The depiction of Joker in the Nolan Dark Knight series is more correct in that we never really found out who the Joker is or was. Various movies have said who he was but the comics never did reveal his origin or even really a hint of how he became the Joker.

The recent Joker movie isn't really connected to any of the other movies and it's kind of it's own thing. It's more of an 'art house' deconstruction of what kind of society would lead to a Joker in the first place so in that sense it's not even really a 'superhero' movie. What I'm saying is that you can really watch it any time you want and it's not going to spoil or impact you're viewing of any of the other movies. It's doing it's own thing. Loved your Batman reaction!

30:12 - Bruce left Ra's al Ghul under a pile of rubble, not knowing it was an actor and a trick. But he did intend to do just that, so the real Ra's took it personally since it'd been meant to be him. It was only the secret trick that kept the real Ra's alive, but Bruce didn't know that at the time. He only saved someone pretending to be his friend and mentor. So Ra's returns the favor. I'm constantly surprised this wooshes over so many people's heads...

Ra's Al-Ghul translates from Arabic to "head of the demon". In the comic, Ra's is semi-immortal as whenever he his close to death or even sometimes dead, he can be revived via a secret chemical wellspring called the Lazarus pit that he as the head of the league of shadows has sole authority over. Considering how Nolan's take on Batman is meant to be a far more gritty, down to earth rendition of the story, they chose to omit the supernatural stuff. There's also a bit of a debate over the pronunciation of Ra's Al-Ghul, while the Arabic pronunciation is R-aa-s, the same word in Hebrew is pronounced 'R-aych'. There doesn't seem to be an official pronunciation, so its used interchangeably.

So, this movie came out before the MCU started. This trilogy is stand alone and doesn't really have any impact on the other DC movies. Joker is also a stand alone movie. DC didn't have as much success establishing their interconnected universe as Marvel, so you can watch a lot of their movies (Joker, Shazam, Wonder Woman, The Suicide Squad etc.) without watching others. Some, especially like the first Suicide Squad, may not be worth filming a reaction to, but it never hurts to watch and form your own opinion on them.

yes the temple isn't a real place, just a film miniature with cgi, not a real place. "we had bats in my dorm room" you really shouldn't talk about the other dorm girls like that, it's not nice.

In my younger days, I had a job to remove bats from buildings. I have been in very tight enclosures with hundreds of bats at once. I can tell you that they do not want to touch, but sometimes a wing will touch the edge of your cheek. I am coming up on one week as a resident in Europe tomorrow. I cannot wait to get to Belgium again to have moules frites and a nice bière. I hope you are having a great holiday.

I hope someone warned you that Katie Holmes was exchanged for a different actress in the sequel... 🤔

when he says "nice coat", it's because that's the guy that he gave the coat to a long time ago before he disappeared. lol, it's a little inside joke with the homeless guy!
