I've seen only a couple Wes Anderson movies, but this made me want to watch more! I was never interested in seeing this, because I didn't care for the art style. Glad I finally gave it a chance.

This is a great example of people assuming "animation = intended for children = childish". Which is obviously not the case if you watch the movie five minutes in.

If you liked this you’ll enjoy all of Wes Anderson’s stuff - grand budapest hotel, darjeeling limited, isle of dogs (another animated one), royal tenenbaums, bottle rocket, life aquatic. Wes anderson is a quirky director who obviously is much loved by a lot of actors, who appear repeatedly in his movies. Ps its meryl streep but you probably already know that.

I always felt the film is about Mr Fox's struggle between his wild nature and the domestic life he's chosen. He fears and admires the wolf, an endangered wild animal. He is an insecure father, feels stuck in a boring job and falls back into his old ways endangering those he loves. The film doesn't really explore Felicity who seems more attracted to the wild Mr Fox, but priorities security. Why is she always painting storms? What about her history as the "town tart"? She may not be happy, but is busy being a mom for now. I love the Ash/Kristofferson story, but I think that is there to highlight how Mr Fox feels over his head as a father and kind of checks out as a dad. He can't relate to Ash and lets Felicity be the parent, while he goes back to what he enjoys and is really good at.

This was the very first Wes Anderson movie I ever saw and it's in my top 3 of His 1.The grand Budapest hotel 2.Moonrise kingdom 3. Fantastic Mr fox

I recently rewatched this because someone made the argument that it was a Thanksgiving movie. It totally is BTW. But I forgot how cussing amazing this movie is! The straightforward, matter-of-factness of the acting is a signature of Wes Anderson's directing style. He's one of the most stylistically distinct directors. A really cool detail is that even though all the animals portray this civility, they still hiss like wild animals and they still eat with 0 table manners. Also, they talk about Ash being *waves hands* "different." Ash is the only one at the end eating grape juice, not apple juice.

Since you really liked this you'd also really like Isle of Dogs(2018), and I'm guessing also The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou(2004). Both are directed by Wes Anderson, as well as the stories being co-written by him. Honestly I've yet to see an Anderson movie I didn't like. Your son would also like Isle of Dogs(PG-13) but The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is rated R.

Hey Mom, first off hope you and the Family enjoy your Thanksgiving,! .. Second, the unique style of this animated feature, is from Director Wes Anderson..!!...but he has only done Two animated movies, the other is Isle of dogs, featuring V.O. of Bryan Cranston. Wes uses many core Actors, returning for all his movies, William Defo, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Edward Norton Jr, ... PLEASE react to.. Moonrise Kingdom, or The Grand Budapest Hotel...or, Isle of Dogs. Honorable mention, the Royal Tenninbaums, and the life Aquatic... These movies feature an ensemble cast, and many returning actors, in different characters. An Anderson movie is unlike anything before or since.

I need to revisit Wes Anderson's later movies. Nothing felt as memorable as everything up to and including "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou." This is the second time at least that you've described your husband stopping you from watching a movie and steering you to doing a reaction video instead.
