I’m a retired RN now but started out in the early 80’s as an LVN. I was 19. Though I wasn’t on the frontlines like the police and EMT’s and Paramedics are I still have vivid memories, some of which are now 4 decades old. I practiced in a hospital in south Texas, that was less than 30 minutes from Mexico. Working in the ER I saw my first and only pipe bomb victim. He was in his early 20’s. While working in the ER, helping to get him ready to go to surgery, he looked at me and said please don’t let me die. I still remember when they moved him on the stretcher, out of the ER trauma room. The stretcher moved forward as the blood ran off of it backwards, onto the floor. I remember the trauma room floor, littered with empty packages, yellow charge stickers and other medical debris, covered in blood. Less than an hour later, through closed doors, around the corner and down a long hallway I remember hearing his mother’s wailing cry, after finding out he died. That’s just one of many horrific experiences I still remember, when working there before I was 20. To all of those who are on the FRONTLINES you have my utmost RESPECT.

I can't wait to see this. As a retired Cincinnati Police Officer, I saw many of these same things. Suicides, shootings, drug overdoses, murders, stabbings, dead babies, mentally ill people who can't help themselves - I saw all that. You never know what you are going to see before you go home. You signed up for the job because you want to help people and then you realize how much the odds are stacked against you. Most understand what Narcan is, and it's not an EMT or police officers job to decide who gets it and who doesn't. Our job is to preserve life. Support your local police and fire. You have no idea what they see or hear and have to deal with on a daily basis. Real life isn't a movie or a tv show.
@jeffsilverman61043 ай бұрын
That was well said. My father worked LAPD patrol for twenty years starting in 1968. He saw everything. Every. Thing. He was good at his job - and the better you are, the more you see and feel, and experience. He taught me many things.

I was an FDNY Paramedic for 16 years up until the pandemic really screwed me up and forced me to leave the job I loved. This trailer almost made me cry. It looks absolutely incredible. A true deep dive into just how screwed up the job can be both for us and for our patients. Can't wait to see it.

There's a lot of screwed up jobs out there. They do the same with sports films (especially boxing & fighting) and war films involving military & civilians. At the end of the day, someone rode out with paramedics, wrote a story, and here we are. I think the film is being overhyped from an originality standpoint, but whatever, at least it's not a soulless dating movie.
@mikeraimer33053 ай бұрын
I worked NYC*EMS FDNY/EMS from 1987-2011 when I retired after 24 years. I hope this film shows the real side of the job. There are a lot of people out there who have issues because of some things we see on the job. I worked Bed-Stuy, ENY, CIH, Rockaways, South Jamaica and the Bronx as an EMT and a Lt. in SOD and Haz-Tac. I have seen more things in 1 weekend than most people see in a lifetime. If the movie isn't realistic it will NEVER show what EMT's and Paramedics in NYC go thru on a daily basis. I hope Sean Penn keeps to his beliefs that it has to be as real as possible when he does a film like this!!!!!!!!! EMS in NYC really needs to be recognized for the issues that are involved in it!!!!!!!!

I'm not an EMT, but I had a mom with three little kids roll her suburban into a ditch right in front of me on a skinny little country road. The infant had a headwound the size of an orange with skull visible. I had to pull all four of them from the wreckage and do my best to clear airways and stop the bleeding from depressed head injuries. The RN who showed up about ten minutes in told me I did an ok job of dealing with the worst of it. I was fine until the medics arrived and then I lost it. Cried like a baby for a good half hour. The PTSD lasted most of a year. My respect for people who can do that job and keep going back day after day is boundless. Thank you for doing a job that would probably wreck me in a month.

Penn was awarded the Christopher Reeve First Amendment Award from the Creative Coalition for his commitment to free speech. He organized to support and promote the anti-Iraq War movement. He visited Iraq to protest against the Bush administration's plans for a military strike on Iraq. He traveled to New Orleans, to aid Hurricane Katrina victims. After the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Penn founded the J/P Haitian Relief Organization, which operated a 55,000 person tent camp. Penn is the founder of the nonprofit organization Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE), which distributed aid in Haiti following the country's 2010 earthquake and Hurricane Matthew. Penn visited flood-stricken villages in Karim Bux Jamali, Dargah Shah Gurio, and Peero Lashari in the Badin District, where he distributed blankets, quilts, kitchen items, and other goods to flood survivors. He played a role in securing the release of American entrepreneur Jacob Ostreicher from a Bolivian prison in 2013, and was credited by Ostreicher for having personally nursed him back to health after his release. I can see your point, there's not much of a reason to be a fan of the guy o.0

When does this come out?

This looks pretty good. I'm not too high on the lead actor. But Penn is always good. This reminds me of movies that came out when I was a kid. I'm 39 now. I might give this a shot in the theaters.

Is it me or there is a big "Training day" vibe ? I feel like Sean Penn's character is not to be trusted. 🤔

Same😂, it still looks like a good movie, plus I saw that other one with Sean and Dakota where he's a can driver, maybe he was able to shoot both in the same city?? Both movies look good

love and hate looking back at my years on an ambulance.....big city for where I live and not even a big town in reality. Not for everyone, movie looks pretty good.
