The sequel to Typomaniac where Chespin tries to juggle his relationships with Fennekin and Mudkip but ends up getting intertwined in a game revolving around rare candies.
This one took me 13 months to make I almost cancelled it twice, even putting it on hold for 3 months to make The Video Zone. I was bored so I finished it. Hope you like it

This is easily the most depressing episode in the entire Startes series. Chespin is the nicest, most wholesome character in the entire series, and watching him suffer for forty minutes was definitely an experience. My personal favorite out of all the episodes by far.

Sylveon's character makes me very curious. In order to evolve like that, he would have needed to hold intense amounts of genuine love and affection. However, currently he is extremely cynical, sadistic, and acts for the abstract concept of "greater good" without anything to define what it means, making it essentially an excuse for his unsavory acts. What causes the gap? is it extreme levels of cognitive dissonance, or did something happen between his evolution and current state?

Wow, this was just so complex. had such an amazing handling on the real life issues of change and social articulations of influence. How you shouldn't try and please everyone because everyone can't be happy simply due to circumstance or How they feel like insecruities. What is really the right thing to do. When faced with an Ultimatum with 2 negative outcomes and no way to avoid it. You can't possibly do the right thing all the time because sometimes the only thing you can do is do whats neccessary based on what you think is right due to the fact that their is no doing the right thing since each decision can leave a negative and positive impact regardless. Everyone changes and you have to accept that change and be supportive of it. i feel chespin was almost like the viewers how we didnt want to see your channel to change when we should be supportive of you instead and support your change. It was truly a spectical. It was Dark but still had that feeling Sophistication and soft heartedness which was conveyed so that it could be understood as such. Killing of Mudkip was almost as if to say im not going to make a part 3 to this ,its dead, its over. The conversation between chespin and tepig was very deep and soft to heart. i almost though you were going to pair those 2 together towards the end like the legend of korra which would have been fine as their charchters had developed to a point where they could end up doing anything towards the end and still leave a satifying conclusion. And finally the way you let it all end at a sort of cliffhanger like. but not really as each and every charchter were concluding their feelings just as Braxen tilted her head trying be the same level. so to leave it at that is a true statement and amazingly prepared to be left as such. and so to end my review before i depart i give you a standing ovation, i applaud you , and throws flowers into air around you as the show is brought to conclusions and the curtain begins to fall. Take a bow because In the end it was truly something to behold something which can be defined as a personfied work of art and a dramtic close to a phenomenal series.

This is insane, I love his videos not for the parody trend, but the ingenious lore that surrounded it, I adore his intriguing stories and to be honest I dont know which one I love more, it's unfortunate he didnt get the loyal and appreciative fandom he so long hoped for. In typomaniac, I reasonized with mudkips views on chespin. but here I realize that it was unrealistic. Mudkip wanted chespin to constantly be friendly and carefree,, to never change. To always be a shining beacon. Of course, this couldnt happen. Everyone has their ups and downs, and mudkip was so deluded to think that chespin was immune to this. When mudkip decided to help with the rare candy epidemic because otherwise, chespins life would presumably be taken, he did not see the real chespin. He saw the chespin from before. After watching the starters series for about three years, since the lavender town episode, it's sad to see the series finally come to an end. I've enjoyed watching all the episodes of this series, but I guess it is nice to see a real ending to typomaniac. The amount of time that you have put into this series is probably only matched by the amount of watch time that it has gotten, because it definitely took many more hours than the amount of hours the series ends up being. But overall, it's a series i'll most likely looking back to every now and again. It was a great ride watching it for so long, and I'm glad to see the channel go to content that you want to produce, that isn't topical trends. These starters videos always seem to come out quicker than I think they will, so I hope that the same will be true with your newer content (obviously don't rush it, I'm just saying that it seems like it will take a year but it takes less than that). Congratulations for having a series run for so long, and I can't wait to see what you come up with next; whether it be related to starters in any way or not, I wish you good luck for the future.

This was absolutely amazing- I honestly never thought there'd be a sequel for some reason, and I didn't think the full version would come out for at least a few months after Volume 1. I can't even describe how I feel or how good it is...so you'll just have to take 'amazing'. The way Chespin battles with his morals. See, there are a lot of series (take FNaF for example) that live on far too long. FNaF 3's ending absolutely killed me because I was devastated that it was over. Now I'm kinda over it and because the series went on as long as it did, it lost a ton of its appeal and emotional connection to me and many others. I feel the same way about this. At the end of it all, I felt like crying. Partially because of the events therein and partially because I still can't believe that after all these years, it's just... Over. But I think it's best ended like this. The fact that I'm so sad means it went on just long enough to make an impression but not long enough to overstay its welcome. I might not be happy about it, but I think this is a beautiful, bittersweet conclusion. Dane, you're a glorious bastard and I'll stick by your stuff 100% even when it's not this.

I've been watching your channel for years now since you made that Ben Drowned video years ago, and I have been seeing you slowly evolved into a bigger and bigger animator. And of course I've been watching Starters for years, I've enjoyed Typomainiac especially, I would honestly have to say that Starters is full of thee most lovable characters. (My favorite Cyndiquil and Fennekin) and I can't believe that this is end of one of my favorite animated series on KZbin. What will happen after this? No more pokemon animations? I would consider this to be the biggest finale to one of my favorites, and thank you Movie Unleashers for giving all of us something that has entertained us for years.

Coming back to this 2 years later. This one was seriously underrated as fuck, but that goes for a lot of stuff on this channel. I know that Dane was pretty stressed out while he was making this, but god it turned out so well. It's definitely my favorite Starters episode. The realism, writing, voice acting and orchestration of the scenes all stood out to me. What I love about these is that they manage to make you take them seriously and realistically despite their unrelated parody surface. Mudkip's death scene might be my favorite scene from any of Dane's work. The confrontation Mudkip and Chespin have after they find each other is a tense culmination of all the conflict building up between the characters throughout the story. Ultimately, though, this is an unstable murderer abusing a well intentioned kid into feeling guilt. By the end, he's restlessly bombarding him with attacks and insults until BOOM. This part genuinely shocked me the first time I saw it. The complete silence and camera movement that followed encapsulated the moment superbly. I continue have a lot of respect for that scene. Anyways, the story deals with real-life dilemmas, and it creates empathy for the characters and what not. It's just amazing how it has such a power to engage while being simultenously contrasted with the silly concept of Pokemon characters. Like, seriously, this barely has anything to do with Pokemon. It really shows how much talent and charm is behind this guy and his work. God I should get to sleep. Dane, if you're reading this, be proud of what you've done.

Just got done reacting to this for a video and I just wanted to say. Dane, you're a wonderful and talented dude. Doing all of this yourself, and doing such a good job is amazing. Wonderful writing and storytelling, great characters and putting them into such real situations... I've been watching this series since I was 12, when I shouldn't have been, and as a nearly 20 year old adult coming back to it after so long, I have such a heavy nostalgia for something I never realized was so dark. But I appreciate it, and so did my friends when we watched this and Typomaniac together. You are amazing at telling stories, and making such real characters (and wonderfully hateable villans like Mudkip) that I can't help but be a bit sad that we likely won't get more of the series. But that's ok. You shouldn't be known solely for one thing, but your career as a whole, and I hope that it's going well for you, because you deserve it. I'm not usually so heartfelt in comments, but as someone who grew up with this (and none of the other stuff my generation watched on youtube), this, as well as your content as a whole, has a special place in my heart that I will never let go. I love how this style makes everything at first seem almost child like and innocent; in south park I think it's a part of the joke about how they are all kids and they swear and stuff, but in this the joke always seems to be something much more tragic. maybe this is just nostalgia talking due to all the pokemon fanfiction I read when I was like 12, but If what you make is anything even a quarter of the quality that I thought starters was, I don't even know... Thank you for making what you already have, and though starters is over, I look forward to seeing what you make in the future.

This was truly amazing, this had a lot of much needed character development for chespin who always wasn't very involved, and it truly shows how drugs can effect one, not that it's focused mainly on The "drugs are bad" trend. There were some major twists and I was a little surprised when you killed of mudkip. I salute this kind of storytelling.

I feel so bad for chespin. But, alas, every good thing must sadly come to an end. But why was this so realistic, like with the handling of social pressure to drugs or in this case "rare candies?" Anyways this was a great series, thoigh i am sad that there hasn't been any new content, per se. Yes, there has been starters related content but not a full episode, like this in a long was time. But, that is to be expected when you have to make godly and incredible content, or should I say "arceusly?" And you also have to top yourself every new video, at least for the most part. But, did mudkip really have to die, I loved him so much, R.I.P. to a treacherous legend.

I've been watching since Lavander Town was released and I gotta say, even though all the pokemon series has had mature themez, this one actually felt like it was matured. Im 16 right now and this feels really relatable, how I feel self consious, i never feel like I am good enough, suicidal thoughts and at some point, thinking of turning to drugs. I don't know how you can make paper cut outs relate to people more than something like Pixar could ever do. And thats amazing. (Btw i am going to be donating to you from here to as long as i possibly can. Shows like this deserve to get more attention than things like The Loud House or Steven Universe and how they are praised for having non straight people. I don't knos, maybe its just me, but seeing the things I grew up with being so relatable, it makes me feel better.)
