I do remember the Pokemon Ranger games pretty well, they're very interesting twists on the usual formula. And I really loved Guardian Signs for giving you the adorable Ukulele Pichu to be your partner. I never got to finish any of them, I think usually because I'd get stuck on something, but this reminded me of how entertaining it could be.

As a person who would eagerly await news of a new Pokémon ranger game I’m proud to say I wish there was another entrance in the series. Especially with the new amount of Pokémon. Even if it follows the old style instead of the 3D style nowadays. The music was good, the character development was spectacular and it was in general an amazing series to grow up with.

I swear I don't know what is wrong with me, but a moment that makes me EVEN CRY in retrospective is when you come back to the school as a professional to visit and inspire the students, just like the other dude did when you studied there. Shadows of Almia was actually the first Pokemon Ranger game I played, and I LOVED it. It really is a shame that they stopped producing Ranger games after Guardian Signs - which was epic in the sense that you could call on Legendaries to help you out.

Mystery dungeon always holds a special memory for me. When I was a kid I was on vacation with my mom and met a kid who liked Pokémon as well. We talked about the card and games and all that when we got deeper into games and the talk became more and more confusing to both of us until we found out that he talked about mystery dungeon the whole time. I felt so bad for him because he had pretty strict parents who didn't know anything and when he wished for a Pokémon game he wanted diamond or peal for the ds but got mystery dungeon and never an other game again. Poor dude however he had a weird obsession with turning Pokémon into these dark evil creatures. Happens when the wrong guy gifts you the wrong berries I guess

I mean, the storyline of Ranger series makes much more sense than being a 12yr-old beating an entire crime organisation all by themself. Also I love the fact that pokemon actually wanders around in this game instead of being tucked away in some bushes.

I don’t begrudge them dropping you to level 1 at the start of the game, there has to be some form of progression in the game, you can’t start out with everything from the start otherwise there is no fun in progression. Taking our powers away is an acceptable way to do it, and it honestly doesn’t bother me too much. Metroid does it in basically every game after all (steals your powers away so you have to find them all over again). But this is doesn’t make it any better, it’s fairly silly when Metroid does it, and pokemon has never been Metroid, nor should it aspire to be so. It just doesn’t feel right in a pokemon game to do the 'my powers are gone' trope.

You start out as the elite ranger, parachuted in to save the day, there isn’t the same gradual build up like in SoA, then halfway through you reunite with your partner, who proceeds to follow you everywhere and get equal praise for saving the day, despite the fact he does nothing (gameplay wise) to help beyond morale support.

Yes! Obviously the protagonist evolves into the star Pokemon ranger and MVP, but it happens very gradually and realistically. Also throughout the whole plot you're not alone, you're working for and with the ranger union. There's this one boss fight where you face off with the evil teacher, and with you is your then boss from the ranger union. The both of you are kinda backed in a corner by goons and the evil teacher himself, so your boss is like "hey kid, take care of those weaker goons while I handle the boss Pokemon, okay?" You do just that, only to see that your boss actually lost to the boss Pokemon and you have to step up to save both of you. After that you get promoted to Top Ranger and move up to the ranger HQ. But I always liked how realistic is was! In so many Pokemon games you're accompanied by NPCs who do NOTHING to help. And in ranger, obviously the senior ranger wouldn't want some new kid to handle this scary boss fight, he does it himself.

This is SUCH. A trip down memory lane. I loved Pokémon Ranger so much, especially the first two games. I was somewhat obsessed tbh 😂 shadows of Almia was a very good game indeed and it was really fun seeing how the English translation used and changed puns that I remember so well. (Example: Keith and Heath are called Bodo and Odo in the German translation, Ice is called Glazio afaik. Lavana somehow stayed the same.) and listening to this I just gotta say… the music slaps, even ten years later.

I have never played the first to Ranger games, i only played Guardian Signs when i was a kid I remember i liked it but i think i got stuck in some point and never continued, but this video makes me want to try and actually finish it sometime soon 😊 Also, i think Pokemon Ranger deserves more love in the pokemon fandom, they are actually preety good The side games pokemon makes are actually really well done, my favorite is Mustery Dungeon Explorers of Sky, it’s one of my comfort games actually😅

I played Rangers Shadows and Guardians and there was so much memories made off those games I personally loved them but in my heart Pokemon Platinum will always be my go to Pokémon game.

I love that the Ranger games are technically canon. The first Ranger tied into the original distribution even for Manaphy for DPPt. There was a whole special mission that needed with you finding a Manaphy Egg, which you could the transfer to one of the Sinnoh games and hatch. And it was all framed as “A newborn Pokémon should really be raised by a Pokémon Trainer, so let’s contact Professor Rowan in Sinnoh and see if he knows any reliable Trainers to take care of this rare egg we found.” Neat stuff. Proper backstory for a Mystery Egg, and a crossover between a mainline game and a side game. I miss Toys R Us…

Honestly, this Pokémon villain team is one of the most developed of the whole franchise. They’re hilarious, of course, but also actually evil. Like, they resorted to kidnapping and threats to actually pull off their evil plans. That’s pretty developed for a Pokémon game, if you ask me. I have only played Pokemon Guardian Signs but I absolutely love it because it has a pichu with a ukelele and features the sinnoh region which is by far my favorite. The mechanic to call the legendary dog trio and other legendaries with the stylus was so cool which is why it is personally my favorite game for the nintendo DS

I remember this and the first one - the Pokemon Ranger spin-offs are absolutely amazing, which like isn't too much of a shocker I feel like the spin-offs are the majority of good games in the franchise and the sequels to them are pretty much the best games overall. But honestly even if Shadows of Almia wasn't as great as it is, I think Dim Sun would always be my favorite evil team just because their name is close to dim sum the food and I like food (especially dumplings of any kind).

This is definitely one my favorites of Jaiden's animations. The sheer craziness of the game mixed with Jaiden's commentary, her sass as well as her own wackiness, makes this a super enjoyable ride. That goes for pretty much every animation of hers, but this one felt special to me. In fact, if I actually get into Pokémon, it'd be thanks to Jaiden.

fun fact in the games the most recent one if you draw the circles around the pokemon in the other direction you usually do (being counter clockwise) you catch the pokemon faster

This was one of my absolute favorite games growing up and still is, and I'm so happy to see so much love for it!! The Pokemon Ranger games have always been shadowed by Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (which I love just as much) but it warms my heart to see someone enjoy it so much nowadays! ☺️

Back in the day once you beat the game you could transfer Darkrai from Pokemon Ranger into diamond or Pearl and it was amazing
