When I trained as a nurse in the early 1980’s all of these methods were taught in school and used in clinical practice. We had one mechanical hoist shared between 3 medical wards. When I look at this video I can see exactly why I have a bad back now!

Just finished my moving and handling course. That’s one way for the carers to get sued if a accident did happen to the client or both carers get taken out of work because of pulling there back lots of strain there, also the bed should be level to the carers if possible. When either doing hoisting or moving the person or both. One manual handling aid I’m not keen on is handling belts as it can injure over time the client and the carer can end up with broken fingers if used wrong and the client fell. Some hospitals have banned the handling belt.

I remember being taught most of these techniques by "experienced" senior carers... I was horrified!

you should be showing safe ways to move and transfer, not unsafe methods

no i dont agree, showing unsafe practise is good learning for all care staff to show them the importance of how NOT to do this
