Moving Bees into a Flow Hive

Hi Queen Bee, how did this go? i have a Flow Hive 2+ that i bought a few months ago. going into winter (Australia here) i bought a 5 frame Nuc last week and its been settling in. i;m going to transfer the Nuc to the Brood Box when the weather warms up.

Interesting, I see the flow roof, but the boxes do not look like they came from Flow. I have a Flow Hive 2 and love it.

The hive was a wedding gift! The one box is directly from Flow. But as the people didn't know hives need two deeps, I bought a second one. The Flow super isn't shown since it wasn't time to collect honey yet.

Oh wow, I agree! The handles don't appear to be the flow logo. Not that it matters at all it's just interesting. Did you end up getting a flow harvest?

I wonder if this is an original flow hive and the 2's that we have have the different look to them.

The flow hive 1 did not have the fancy handles on the brood boxes - that was brought in with the flow hive 2 (also, there's nothing special about flow hive brood boxes- they are exactly the same as any langstroth hive box). And yes, I got about 20 pounds of honey. The flow supers are pretty cool!

@@queenbeehomestead I noticed that my flow hive 2 gabled roof did not fit on my mann lake boxes, so the flow equipment could matter for that. But yes, really it is essentially the same!

Laws on keeping bees vary by state (and even town!). A very helpful resource can be a local beekeeping group! You can find them on Facebook or contact your local agriculture extension office for help 😊. Good luck!!
