@jast99999 ай бұрын
As a bee keeper I'd say, don't buy one, it's bad to work with, bad for the bees, very expensive, complicated to build and set up and just all around a bad choice. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing the honey flow out of the hive. But harvest is really the only part that is made more simple by the flow hive.... and there is a lot more to beekeeping than harvesting. All of which is way harder with a flow hive.
@jast99999 ай бұрын
@@TheWeedyGardenno, it's really bad for the bees actually.... The bees communicate with each other through dancing, the vibration of the dance normally goes through the hive and the bees know where the food sources are. But the thick plastic comb in the flow hive stops this vibration which is really bad for bee communication.
@jast99999 ай бұрын
@@TheWeedyGardenlove your videos But please look out for moisture content in your honey, it seems very liquid (could also be because of temperature of course). You always wand the bees to have the honey caped before you harvest it. High moisture content can impact shelf live and, at least in the eu, you aren't allowed to sell it with to high of a moisture content.

question with setting up the hive, do you just wait for the bees to come or do you buy them from another hive that someone has ?
@TheWeedyGarden7 ай бұрын
Good question. You could watch “splitting a hive” video. It will give you one idea. Another is to catch a swarm, another barter something for some bees. I would say last resort would be to buy some, but yes, you need to find a colony to inhabit your hive. They will very unlikely find it themself. There are just way too many natural locations they could find.
