That was a bummer Jonathon😥 However, as usual you sorted her good. You need to dig a 2 ft deep pit at the fire door end for ease of access for emptying your firebox ashes, makes it so much easier on the old knees👍👍 Great to see your progress and hard work pay off 👍🏴

Don't know if I heard you say it but you could cut and lay down a thin sheet of metal for like an ashtray with a handle to where you can just slide it out whenever you want to clean up under the boiler. Anyway, it ain't like it'll have any vibration. Thanks again for your time today. Enjoy the rest of your week.

Self taught engineer that cannot only design but execute his plan and usually by himself. Seems its never a problem but only solutions. I came to your channel a few years ago for the cars and hotrods but Im sure enjoying what youre doing now. How many men can find this stuff in the woods ,figure a way to retrieve and rescue it and then figure out how to make it live again pretty much by themselves. Best part of it for me is the preservation for future generations. Sawmills ,cranes ,forklift, building rollbacks from the ground up mostly out of outdated or discarded machinery. Amazing.

You are a rare breed my friend. In my 50 years I haven't come across many guy's like you, one that can first dream up the idea, then turn that into a plan, then proceed to execute that plan, compensate mid job as needed, and compete the project all while never missing a beat even when unforseen issues arise, do it in all types of weather.....and most of the time....by yourself. I'm just curious but have you ever taken a real I.Q. test? (Not one that said "for entertainment purposes"!!!) You have got to be a genius! I'm pretty mechanically inclined and you constantly blow my mind with your difficult projects you make look easy.

My father put me into an old oil tank to clean out the sludge when I was a small kid and noone else CV could fit. The fumes nearlly choked me and my mother was horrified. Once out they stripped me naked and scrubbed me with a hard brush and kerosene and burned all my clothes in s pile.

*For the four perches on the boiler. One solution would be is to take four heavy duty coil springs from a 3/4 or one ton pick-up truck and mount those solid to the ground or equipment and use scaffold jacks with the threaded wing nuts and a piece of plate to level the boiler from side to side and front to back with the weight of the boiler resting on the coil springs.*
@randypurtteman11832 жыл бұрын
Excellent job inspite of damage.. But it does bring the question why not use your Crane? Acessability perhaps? That boiler does look good sitting on it's base. P.S. why doesn't it surprise me that you have railroad jacks.

The repair on the foundation looks good. I guess I missed it, but why can't you use the crane? Too heavy or stuff in the way overhead?

Did you manage to seal up the crack in the foundation all the way across? If not could this be an issue with frost damage in the winter? I'm sure other people have thought of this and you were the first! Just asking, hope you don't mind!

*there is an expanding foam that i used in Florida to reinforce home foundations near sink holes.
