Good rescue work there Richard.. also excellent providing shelter for the cattle when there out to. 👏 . Your going to need a boat at this rate😮 .. hoping there's less building of housing and roads in your neighbourhood to stop the runoff . Stay safe 🏴

Hi Richard, the storm has caused a lot of problems, nearly a week later and 3 roads across the Somerset levels are closed due to flooding,at least the house and buildings are higher up than those fields, hope the water goes down soon or it won't do the grass any good🙁

The farmer is the eternal optimist- hope for the best, plan for the worst, and take whatever Mother Nature and the markets dictate and do it all over again.

What a nightmare that is! Too bad you can't plant some rice there or cranberries to take advantage of the flooding 😂 but seriously hope it dries, glad you all got the cows out OK and safely.

Do you do all your cold branding yourself? What do you do if your cattle have white rumps? I remember they used to cold brand the ponies, under the saddle area, to stop people rustling the ponies.

We need to get better at raising the level of our land to combat sodden grazing and installing underground drainage systems. Dutch have been farming land below sea level for years
