We have really enjoyed seeing all the improvements on the farm this year. You are obviously thinking about these things and working on a plan to get them taken care of. It's obvious in your videos you are serious about the farm and have ideas for the future. Time for another Q and A with Dad? :) Discuss the changes made since the last Q and A and thoughts about what's next? Thanks for the time you spend keeping us updated! We love being part of your KZbin family!

Just a thought. If you weld a square plate on the movable post to match the plug it might help clear debris and help keep the holes cleaner over the years. That’s a great idea on pen sizing.

You may want to weld a bit of square plate to the bottom of the movable gate post as a way to keep the gate hinge lined up the way you want it The square plate could work as a "key" in the recessed square hole in the floor to keep things from turning. I could see a cow pushing up against the gate and rotating the post enough to release the gate from the latch.

@skr84nj10222 жыл бұрын
If you add a square plate to the center pole where it fits into the slot in the ground, you can keep dirt and bedding out all the time, and it’ll be easier to get the pole out, and make room for the filler plate without having to scoop any dirt or bedding out. It would probably make the pole sturdy too because it won’t let the pole rock back or forth in the hole. I love seeing new stuff, new builds, fresh ideas on how you get stuff done on your farm. I see others making videos and wonder how they manage when stuff seems out of place or not efficient. When will we see the 11th Generation Dairyman?

A convenient door to go in and out of is a major. Easy to pop in to check on any cows that may need assistance. Be handy to have a cupboard somewhere close by for calving cow supplies also maybe a tap with a bucket ....all out of cow reach of course. 🐄🐄🐄🐄comfortable 🐄🐄🐄🐄happy
@rosemarymurphy57672 жыл бұрын
Eric your dad puppy is so cute running right beside your truck hauling cows be careful you don’t run over him . Put him in the truck . That is awesome you got more room for pregnant cows and deliverer a calf if need to . That would be awesome to have a hoof trimmer parlor in the barn . Now you don’t have to go back and forth with pregnant cows taken from one barn to the other barn yo have calf’s their all right in one barn .

have you thought of installing an automated milking setup, i was working for a dairy farmer who was installing an auto milker, his second one, he said he had more free time for himself also the cows got milked when they wanted, also they produced 20% more milk, the auto milker cost £180,000 each so they must be worth it, also the milkers were installed in the sheds where the cows lived so no moving back and forth to the parlor. if there was a problem the milker sent him a text informing him what the problem was also he could see the cattle on his phone with cameras in the sheds

You guys prove over and over again that you don't have to resort to inhumane practices to maintain a dairy farm. You never use cattle prods, all it takes is a nudge and the girls move. That doesn't even take into account the lengths you go to ensure their comfort. Thank you for being awesome human beings.
