This was such a helpful video, I'm moving to uni in September and already have everything I think I need so watching videos like this lets me know if there's anything else I need to buy. However I would suggest that if you are a Paramedic student, like myself, or basically anybody that will be doing placements in a hospital, do take an iron if you are in a studio flat or at least check that your halls will be providing one. Ironing a uniform makes you look much smarter but it also sterilises it that extra bit after washing!

Aaah I didn't think of that!

I know I'm a year late but I'd recommend a hand held steamer over an iron- I had to do a lot of placements and yes, don't want to look shabby but I just find whilst you don't get the 'crisp' look of an iron you do get all the crinkles out, it's super quick and much more compact.

I'm really conflicted whether or not I should buy a printer for uni- some people say it's unnecessary and some say it's a must😫
@charlottew19384 жыл бұрын
I found it useful just out of laziness- I would use the printer in the library if I was in the library and my room one if I was in my room. It can also be good if you have to print something last minute and the shared one isn’t working as Rosie said. Maybe just go without one, and if you feel it would be useful, you can buy a cheap one there x

Yes I'd agree! If needed get a £30 one from Argos - pretty sure that's where mine was from.

Remember that ink and paper is really expensive and annoying to refill. Wouldn’t personally reccomend bringing it.

As a senior in high school, this would really help me for college next year if I will ever live in student dorms since most of the universities I will be applying to are just 30 mins to an hour away from my house 😂😂

Aah you can have the comforts of home and no stress of moving out!

Thank you, Rosie. That was really helpful. Plus, you look lovely wearing this t-shirt💓💓. Could you please tell me do overseas students need to pack thongs for the whole year or they will be forced to return home after each term?
@RosieCrawford4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! As far as I'm aware colleges do allow some storage onsite for international students who have to move out in the holidays. For me, this was just in first year and after that we were there all year so you didn't have to move:)

I’m going to uni in September. So would people from other floors just use other people’s kitchens to make food and stuff ??? That’s so weird to me why can’t they just use their own kitchen, also I would be scared that they would take my stuff.
@RosieCrawford4 жыл бұрын
Our accomodation was different to most in that all kitchens were opens. Each floor only had one shared between 6-16 people depending on floor. Sometimes people would come up to use the kitchen shared between 6 people (which I'd got on the top floor to keep my allergies safe) when we werent there and yes, they used our stuff. Very annoying. As far as I'm aware most flats have locks and only your flat can access the kitchen but Oxford wasn't like that
@nikola2064 жыл бұрын
This is gonna sound like such a random question but what kind of kitchens do you have on your floors? Are the hobs gas or electric? How much does doing laundry cost?
@RosieCrawford4 жыл бұрын
It varies massively by college and accomodation block (which tends to be random) but in my first year we had 1 kitchen for all of us living there bc we were technically catered (it was a nightmare trust). In 3rd year our kitchen was amazing- you can see it in most of my vlogs from 2018-19 and was between 6 of us. I filmed a room tour a Somerville college too when I was there for a summer school and there was a kitchen with 2 hobs and a microwave on each floor (8 rooms?) Laundry varies again but at Peters it was £2.50 per wash (Circuit Laundry company so i think that's standard) but the the drier was free.

How did you cope with an allergy at uni? I'm starting uni this September and I have an allergy to gluten and have to be careful with cross contamination.
@RosieCrawford4 жыл бұрын
I was very careful. I had my own fridge, only put sealed things in the main fridge, named everything and made everyone aware of how severe my allergies are. I sometimes washed my stuff up when I came to use to them just in case someone else had used it and washed it half heartedly. I pretty much kept all my utensils in my room in a box under my bed tbh.
@RosieCrawford4 жыл бұрын
I also let the halls know before I went and requested a room with the smallest number of people to kitchen - I've done the same with my masters.
@amyukulele4 жыл бұрын
sounds stupid but how did you put your name on your kitchen stuff without it coming off in the wash? xx
@RosieCrawford4 жыл бұрын
Sharpies/permanent markers work a treat :) i also don't use a dishwasher (we've never had one at home so i didn't use one at uni either) so i think that helps

I really enjoy your videos Rosie! Your content is great and you definitely deserve more followers! You have inspired me to start a channel with my boyfriend, and we have just uploaded our first video. I just graduated from my BSc and will be starting a MSc in September, so I will be filming videos related to my studies and showing what life as a student-athlete is like. Please check out my channel if you're interested xx
