I’m in the UK and I’m curious that you’re moving out to university during this pandemic especially when the virus has gotten worse in this country. I’m starting my first year of uni this year too but I’m not moving out because I personally don’t believe it’s safe whatsoever. Any advice because you seem to totally chill and I’m here having panic attacks every day over it.

Hey! I booked my accommodation in February so before the pandemic began here and moving to uni/ having my independence has been something I've really been looking forward to/that has kept me going during this *very long* summer. I am being very safe and am only in a bubble with the people on my floor. My university has been very proactive and communicated a lot with us which has kept my anxiety at ease and I feel so happy here. I am walking as much as possible and avoiding public transport as that's how I feel most comfortable. This situation isn't ideal at all for any uni students, but I felt I needed my own space after spending so long at home so I think the transition for me was easier

Laura Medley you’re so lucky, and especially so lucky to have a family who is comfortable letting you live a life during this mess. I’m 21 and my dad refusing to let me move out for uni during this mess. I haven’t left my house, seen my friends, my boyfriend or even my grandparents for 6 straight months and my mental health really is at a worrying place right now, especially knowing ill be trapped at home another 6 months doing my degree. I just wanna say you’re lucky and I hope you have an amazing life... :’)

​@@ItsHarleyRose Hang in there girl I believe in you! Tell your dad how you feel for sure if you can but also remember he just wants to keep you safe. It's a blessing and a curse I know! If you wear a medical 3-ply mask you're very protected too if that makes you feel any better. If you decide to change your mind about staying at home, you can always ask the uni to gradually introduce you in if the Uni is not too far away (e.g come in certain days stay home other days) or apply to go to uni much later on and work from home for the time being. Whatever suits you. Hope you're okay though - this is a safe space to talk if you want :)

HazzaTime I am grateful this is a safe space, I really need it. I’m just anxious to the max about starting my degree entirely from home and especially alone since my partner and all my friends are moving to the uni. I’ve never felt so isolated in all my life and it’s been like this since March with no exceptions or leeway 😥

If it helps they've just passed legislation saying it's okay for ppl in relationships to see each other and not socially distance (have a look at the .gov website - they put it in very sneakily but it's there!!) so maybe you can persuade your dad to let you at least see your bf?
