Sorry it's a slow start but I had to walk over to and climb into the machine after the camera had been turned on, which takes around half a minute. This old Hy-mac 690 is one of only 64 of its type built at Hy-macs' Rhymney Engineering plant in South Wales between 1972 and 1976. This is one of only three that I am currently aware of which still exists; this one requires much TLC, she is smoking badly for two reasons the first of which she is running open exhaust manifold with no turbocharger, and she is passing some oil through the exhaust. It was necessary for me to move the machine closer to where it will be possible to get an electric supply for power tools, this is the first time she has moved since coming off a low-loader trailer in 2019, previous to that the digger had stood since 2014. After the machine had tracked a small way I climbed back out to remove some brambles that had been growing around the back of the undercarriage and to check that all was okay with no leaks or potential track coming off problems.
