What a brilliant little tool, when i was a young boy the guy who my dad worked for had two of these bristol overloaders, i spent many happy hours playing on them, unfortunately in tere later years they were cut up for scrap😢

When you turn , with a cat and can thats cable run the crowd forward half way as you need slack in cable for turning the slack spool moves in real , old school dirt then and now .

Leave the starting engine turn it over for a bit longer and it will start better . Rare machine that

What year was it originally made?

Unfortunately the year of manufacture is unknown, the owner has even been in contact with Hitachi who no longer have the records themselves, my best guess would be late 70's to early 80's but that is just a guess.

This is not one of my restorations, but yes the chap who owns it has made a fantastic job of restoring it, a proper no expense spared job. I will be posting some more of other restored machines at this years Chipping Steam Fair event.

The Vigor has no problem Keeping up the new Morden expensive Dozers of today. And it near 70 years later. (VIROR) gets my vote.

I think it had a tank chassis and a Rolls Royce engine, the chassis looks abit like a tiger or panther chassis anyway its lovely

I remember in 1962 when I was 4 riding on of those with my Dad eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in Gary Indiana. Good time I wish everybody was still around.
