3 years before you found a home! I’ve been on the waiting list since April and I’m crying daily as I just want move out of my family home because it’s overcrowded and a toxic environment! Congratulations ❤️. You deserve it after 3 years!

You welcome love, why don’t you speak with council they can put you in a accommodation house 🏡 since the environment is toxic and the house is overcrowded.

@chelseaCherub I'm in the same situation as you. I don't think a single person can get a house, only a flat. I'd much prefer a house though. It's such a slow upsetting process waiting. If I could afford afford private house I would do that but I can't. How you getting on now?
@chelseacherub2 жыл бұрын
@@DeniseC84 I’ve had to get my local MP involved! The council are just being rude and unhelpful. Basically I’m disabled and they’ve said I can’t have a bungalow because I’m under the age of 55 which is backwards. Disabled people should be able have bungalows as well as ground floor flats. Also several properties owned by the council in my area have remained empty for a year or more! Some require work which clearly my council are in no rush to do!
@DeniseC842 жыл бұрын
@@chelseacherub that sounds rough, I'm sorry your going through that. And I totally agree, you have a good right to apply for a bungalow. Most people who are 55 can manage upstairs yet still get to have a bungalow, it's not right. Would you be happy in a ground floor flat? Flats worry me, I'm autistic and can get distressed with alot of noise so not sure how I'd feel in one. I'm gonna call citizens advice to see if they can tell me what I'm entitled to. My job just doesn't pay enough. It's making me so upset, feeling like I don't have my own life because I can't find my own place. Didn't think it would be this hard.

Ow 🥺 it hurts my heart to hear that my son is autistic and I can understand your discomfort if you both live in Leeds I don’t mind going to the council speak with them since I’ve gone through the process of getting a house for my autistic epileptic son, so I know the tricks I don’t know how I can help but in anything you guys need please let me know.

I've been in a hostel since April of 2022, I'm having my viewing and getting the keys to my council flat in a few hours and I don't know how I'm going to react once I've actually done it. Living in this hostel has been horrible and I've had so much disappointment while bidding for homes for months on end, I think I'll probably cry too. Well done on getting your house, it's lovely and very much deserved!

Hi Lidia, thanks for sharing your experience with us. Did you have to pay rent before entering? How long did it take you to sleep at your house? how was the process of choosing the house, did you get to see the house before and after you chose it? I know these are very personal questions. if you can answer i would appreciate it.
@LidiaLunga2 жыл бұрын
No those aren’t that personal 😊 of course I can answer your questions. Well 1• once you get the house you can apply straight for housing benefits or if you get universal credit report that you now have to pay rent and they will pay into your bank account so you can settle the bill, but if you normally pay for your own rent then you can pay weekly or wait to pay at the end of the month, we are talking weekly around £50/£80. 2• once I got the house in April 7 I moved in may 5 but reason being because I was painting, putting the floors and since the adoption team is also working with us for my son’s safety I had to wait until we agreed on some renovation or repairs ( I have a playlist of my moving you can watch all if you want) 3• you don’t choose house you choose the areas you want to live in which you can choose 3 areas 1 being your priority area. Once you get an offer you can reject maximum being 2 offers or you will not get as much offers anymore, and yes you can see the house and area before you make you decision to accept the house. I have 2 videos answering some important questions too you can have a look at them if you find interesting or can just ask me. Welcome to the pumpkin family by the way 🥹🙏🏾.

@LidiaLunga9 ай бұрын
Unfortunately that’s council for you. I was basically without a place to stay and they still toke 3 years to grant me a house. Now what you can do is either pack your bags and go seat on council office and say you just became homeless. They will put you in a temporary accommodation that can either be shared or just for you. And with that you will be granted band A which is the priority band.

Hey Celine welcome to the pumpkin family. After 1 year if you are good tenant, pay all the bills most important being council tax, rent and tv license you became permanent tenant, which means you have more chances to remain in this house forever and after 5 years with a stable job and good credit score you can buy the house. @@rose_2369 the housing association I lived in for 2 years it's a company (not sure the company is the right word ) but is called Gipsil and it's in Leeds. I was able to secure a council house more quickly because my son, who was also born here, has a disability. It was a challenging journey, filled with many prayers, fasting, and recommendations from doctors about the unsafe conditions of our previous home for my son's well-being. Despite the three-year wait, I remain grateful as others face even more difficult circumstances. If that's your case by any chance, I pray you will get a house faster, too. Also, moving to less busy cities may play a more significant part in how fast they can give you a home. London is overboard with people.
