Watch me move my split into a new Bee Built hive. I'll also be checking for mites to see if I need to treat.
Welcome to my second year of keeping bees, where I plan to learn even more about raising pollinators and maybe even get a little honey in the process.
Be sure to check out my other channel, Emmymade in Japan!

I love that you put the arrows to indicate where to look! I was looking around not seeing the cells & thinking I was a little crazy 😂

Emmy, would you be doing a video on how the chickens are doing? And how you house them?

I love the bee vlogs. It's wonderful and I think it's encouraging for other people waffling on bee keeping. I'm allergic, but I do appreciate the bee's place in life.

she needed to sacrifice thos babys to check if there are any mites. it's mite season and they need to be treated so the hole colony survives during winter 🌻

So facinating. I was hoping you wouldn't have to replace the queen . Sucks though they need to be treated for mites right now , I hope all goes well .

Another fascinating bee vlog! 🐝 We had a run in with bees yesterday, a swarm came to the outside wall of our house and decided that a gap in the upstairs brick wall into the wall cavity was going to be a good place to create a nest. Could hear them all buzzing in the bathroom wall and a few made it through the gap around the pipes into the bathroom. A guy had to come and smoke them out so that they'd go find a better place to start a nest :D

SO glad you had them smoked and not terminated! If the future, you could also contact a local Beekeeper and they could potentially catch them. For some reason swarms are better, stronger workers.

Bee fanatic I understand this totally has to happen. There is a part of me that loves that you share every nitty gritty piece... but I didnt particularly enjoy watching the mite check.... it was a little sad. Again, I get the necessity of it. But it wasnt fun.

These lil bee vlogs and videos are so nice. So laid back and still informational. Thanks for sharing! I live in Utah which is called the beehive state and I've been considering beekeeping for a while.

I don't own bees, and given my location (which doesn't have good enough plant life) I doubt I ever will unless I move...but these videos are very fascinating and fun to watch! I love how informative they are, and how much you genuinely care about all of the bees productivity and health. :D

Wow. Amazing all you have learned and accomplished with them! You never cease to amaze me lady. Only wish I would have "met" you when I was younger and in much better shape. In every way. The inspiration is mind boggling. But my ability is not there.😿🐝 the very deserving bees have a wonderful loving friend in you as do all of us! Thankyou ever so much Emmy.💞💋✌Bee fanatic!

Thank you so much for sharing your bee adventures! I’m learning so much and living vicariously through you! 😂 Those poor sacrifices! But they helped to protect their sisters from more mites! X

Will you lower the amount of boxes of the bigger hive since it has such a small population?... and would you take those boxes and use them on the other hives instead of buying more boxes for them? Because I do see like if they are newer, less used boxes. And are they expensive?

I purchased a beautiful quart of local honey which is crystallized. I will still use it but can you share the best way to melt it for visual appeal? I have microwaved crystallized honey before but it recrystallizes fairly quickly and I read that this may not be the best way.

I love your channel :) I took a beekeeping course and will have my own hives this spring. A question I hope you can answer, why do you have to reduce the entrance of the hive when the bees are not doing well?

Hi, I have a similar hive as yours. The queens is not doing a good job. In May, the hive was on 3 frames(a purchased nuc). Now it's on 6 Frames. I can't requeen now! too late. Should I systematically treat for Varroa Mite?

You should do the powder sugar method instead of the alcohol!
@gcr4674
@gcr4674 6 жыл бұрын
The powdered sugar method does not give as accurate of a result, which means the hives might not be treated when they really need to be, which in the end kills more bees than the ones killed by the alcohol.

That is not a nuc, it’s just too few bees in a full box. I would put them in a 5 frame nuc box. They build up faster when there is less space. I would replace the queen and the virgins with a mates queen. You are getting late in the year to mess around with colonies making their own queen.
