Your healing is incredible! I only had dissolving stitches in my bka but it took about 6 weeks to fully heal.

Ampu-Tea, I'm a BKA and I had only the regular type stiches that they removed just after two weeks.

Love the revision, your surgeon did a fantastic job. The end of my limb resembles looking down at the fissures at the edge of the grand canyon. Thanks for your willingness to make these videos, it helps me a lot as a fairly new amputee. And I love the tattoo's, very cool.

I have a very important question for you. I'm going in the hospital on Monday December 18th. This will be my THIRD residual limb revision. I only have @ 5 inches left,all due to injuries suffered in Iraq. The surgeons say this amputation will @ the hip. It scares me that I won't have a residual limb to use a prosthetic. Think I'm not going thru w/it. Two other surgeons say that I shouldn't put myself thru it all over again . Asking for your opinion,probably not going to go thru this again. Your opinion and experience will be greatly appreciated.

What is residual surgery for? Why? My aka was done 5 months ago and all healed well along with parathesias. Now it's all back but twice as bad. I took a fall a few months back and broke my greater generosity and landed on my residual, jamming the femur in the floor opening up the stitch line. Could this be causing my problems?

I had both staples and stitches on my lbka. The only problem I had was an allergic reaction to the adhesive from the steri strips. Did you have phantom pain when you were a Bka?

It's so weird isn't it I'm only 3 years post bka and my phantoms have been crazy i still feel every scar on my foot from before and have one nerve that if touched sends the whole shebang kff!

An absolute guess: maybe the combo was used to give you the benefit of both? The strength of staples, and the added flexibility of sutures? Anyway, I think your tattoo "crop" looks really nice.

Thank you for sharing your journey and thank you to those leaving comments. I endorsed complications from covid that caused blood clots and on top of a bad surgery I am going to lose my toes and trying save my foot. I'm having a hard time dealing with all that is to come.
