Thank you so much sharing I was born in Gainesville Florida but raised in High springs fl. Went to school at Santa fe high before I left as a young adult finished my schooling in Tacoma Washington. Due to military family. Now I have children of my own and want to go back to my home.

Thanks! There are certainly pros and cons to living in town. I can see the perks of living just outside Gainesville but still being close enough to everything.

That's difficult because it depends on who you ask. That has not been my experience but crime does happen in Alachua along with Gainesville. The Alachua Police Department may be able to help more with specifics or provide a block report but if possible, spend some time in the area and try to speak with people that live there. Everyone has a different perception and different experiences so try not to rely on just one source for information.

People a grade ahead of me and in the same grade as well were involved in a shootout, killing the younger of the group, less than a mile from alachua elementary school. Certain areas are just as bad as anywhere out there.
