Such a relief to hear that your experience has been good and that the transport system is good! All I ever hear about is people complaining about the prices, which imo is something that is happening worldwide in a number of nice cities so it's not a huge comparison point for me personally.

This is exactly what I needed! I’ve been living in Philly for 12+ years now, ready to move and looking at Austin.

Gotta say, this was a nicely laid out vid. Watched the whole thing in one sitting no distractions, i know that sounds odd, but crafting a thoughtful dialogue like this without bloat takes some skill. As someone who's lived in Lubbock, Houston, and Queens NY, i get your viewpoints. I've never been to philly, but i know it has similarties to NYC. Id be willing to bet the best parts of Philly are better than the best parts of Austin, and i think this applies to most of the NE metros. That being said, your peace of mind, and financial room for error is probably much better in either of the Texas metros. If Austin or certain parts of Houston could be picked up and transported to the east, near NY, chefs kiss. You mentioned the heat in Austin, hows the weather in Philly? And would you ever go back to a north east city?

thank you so much for your kind words. totally get it, with our attention spans nowadays I also appreciate when I can just focus on one thing! the east definitely has its perks, and I love the larger melting pots that east cost cities bring. Philly has 4 seasons - so it's perfect for those who need that. I won't be in the south forever but the main reason I'd live in the east again is to be close to family :)

Great video! I’m originally from Minnesota and moved to Houston and you hit it on the head with the nature. Houston sucks in terms of nature. We have memorial park which is nice but no water hang out spots. I’m looking to move to Austin because of that third place and more water 🥺

Thanks for the perspective of Philly and Austin. I've lived in Austin and visited Philly a lot as my father was from there. I like Zilker Park in Austin and Fairmount Park in Philly. Valley Forge west of Philly is really nice in the Fall.

Hi. I somehow came across your video and while I was born and raised in Austin, I moved to Philly for about 15 yrs and came back to Austin in 2019. Yeah my circle is like the size of a cheerio. I say I’m from Philly. Ha! Have to go to pflugerville and round rock. that’s where the black folks are and black business owners at that! They don’t come to Austin either to party. Would love to chat exchange some experiences.

i'm considering moving in march from NYC to austin -- my job should let me move just fine, so no worries there, but i am a bit concerned about mostly being surrounded with white people. i'm originally from canada, so i grew up mainly around white people and that was uncomfortable in just the little day-to-day things. one thing i've really loved and been caught off guard by since moving to new york was finding myself in spaces where i was celebrated without me having to fight at all. would you say that these spaces exist in austin? are they few and far between? i feel as though the average american is a lot more direct than the average canadian so that probably solves a lot of issues for me upfront

Yeah some people in Texas are very defensive it’s annoying . But yeah dallas / houston those places suck when it comes to public transportation. And Houston weather sucks. Currently here from LA😊 I think Austin is prettiest from the other cities. I plan on staying here a few years but not forever. Just because I prefer colder climates and a bit more diversity.
