The main way to differentiate the two main parts of Cary are the MacGregor side of town and the Preston side of town. The MacGregor side has easy access to RALEIGH, most of the major medical facilities including the hospital, more native Southerners, the new downtown area, much less property crime, but the houses and shops are maybe not as new and shiny as the Preston side. The Preston side has easy access to RTP & DURHAM (but a large percentage of Preston folks who need to get to Raleigh daily have to cut through the MacGregor side), more Northern transplants, more property crime, generally shinier buildings than the MacGregor side, but smaller lots and less mature trees that have been around for a century or more. Take your pick, but as a native Southerner, the choice is obvious.

Different elements appease different people, but Raleigh is my favorite and go to of the Triangle. Carys a great place to live, if you're able to afford it.

It’s amazing the transformation over the decades! I drove through Raleigh around then and it was such a sleepy city coming from CA it was a culture shock

Chatham County will become like Cary in growth during the next 25 years in 2050.

I do not think that the addition of a Shake Shack outweighs the destruction of half of the wonderful fountains that my son used to so much enjoy. I am disappointed by both the loss of the tranquil space and in the decision making that was behind it.

What city in LA county that you can compare Raleigh to?
@LifeInRaleighNC6 ай бұрын
That’s a really hard one..I feel like it’s more like Northern CA than So Cal personally..and it has an old historic meets new still way slower pace of life in comparison to Callie
