Check with your physician (the one on the yellow card) for a referral to a specialist for the treatments you've mentioned she needs after before you pay for it in Germany, you might be lucky and it'll be covered. It should be down to said physician's judgement regarding its' necessity.

This, if you work in denmark and you have family moved to denmark as well, they will also be covered by the healthcare system. Sadly I cannot link you directly to the portal here, but search for the following in google "borger danish healthcare" the first link should be to lifeindenmark borger dk Go there it will have listed how the system works and how you get registered if you haven't already. The danish healthcare system takes cancer very seriously and she will be in treatment in a matter of days.

Hopefully with help from a kind viewer who has several years experience in this area, we can organise some health care here soon. Thanks again for the comment and concern.

@whatisbrendanuptonow75524 ай бұрын
Hi . Yes Sarah has the yellow card and lives in Denmark. But unfortunatley her condition suddenly stardte to decline and she was down to 4.5 iron count insted of 75, also lacking other vital minerals and vitamins. The doctor said the only option for her was an iron suppliment tablet prescription which even she said will not be sufficient. So The opperation and post opp chemo etc will be performed here in Denmark, but the infusions etc are being administered in Berlin at a private clinic. It must be not that un common as Sarah said she is not the only patient from Denmark attending the clinic currently.

Hej and thank you for your comment. Yes Sarah is currently in Germany recieving treatment to prepare her for the opperation. The staff at the hospital here in Denmark have been GREAT! We have no complaints and we are glad to have acces to these services. In Sarah's particular case, she started to rapidly loose condition shortly after her diagnosis. Sarah was getting weaker by the day. The blood tests that were performed here in Denmark showed an iron count of 4.5 which should be between 50 to 120 for women. The only option that was available was a perscriütion fpr iron supliment tablets, which even the doctor admitted would take 6 weeks to make any difference and even then she said that in Sarah´s case would not be sufficient. A blood infusion which apparently used to be common in Denmark and also Germany is now not an option. That is what we were told. Sarah also had worsening pain in her left arm and neck, which was a complaint that was not taken seriously. Sarah was given a date for surgery 3 weeks away which was then to be followed by chemo and or radiotheropy. If she couldn´t get out of bed now, how will she manage an operation and chemo in 3 weeks time. A doctor in Berlin with a great reputation for cancer management was suggested by a family member and he luckily had time for Sarah. 1 week after her first conciltation and Sarah is feeling much better. The medication that this particular doctor is using is readily available from main stream providers, but unfortunatley not any more covered by the public health system so it seems. Basicly, a detailed blood test is performed, then studdied by the doctor. Then he infuses the required minerals and vitamins that the blood is lacking. This process is repeated accordingly until blood levels are normal. The doctor also mentioned that Sarah is not his only Patient from Denmark who is currently recieving treatment, so his reputation is known outside od Germany. Hopefully this answers your question. So sorry to hear this, and the cost is bad. I think it must be, because your not danish, we get all for free. Danes get an once payout from the State of 100.000 kr when diagnosed with cancer. Maybe try to find out, if you can get that too.
@LarsAvlund2 ай бұрын
..got to make a small correction to that peace of information: A lot of Danes have a Kristisk sygdom / critical illness insurance through their private pension plan - an insurance that typically pays out DKK 100K if you get one of a number of illnesses that is considered life threatening - not exactly a payment you wish to benefit from, but still nice to have if "lightning" strikes. However, this is not a payment from the government / state, but a private coverage you must have in order to receive the payment. If Sarah is employed in Denmark, you may want to check the company´s pension plan and what it includes. I am fighting recuring cancer my self and I am sending Sarah & your family all my prayers and best wishes.🙏

Having only been employed in Denmark for 6 months I have some leave to take. Not much though. And as we are still new to Denmark not all entitlements are fully available as yet. some things take 6 months, others up to 1 year before we can claim. As I am Australian, I am not an EU citizen and this can add even more limitations. I am not complaining. This is understandable, just bad timing for us unfortunatley. So your costs are not related to Denmark but to Germany (?) since all the costs you mention are in EURO and we do not use that currency in Denmark. This confuses me somewhat. Have she not moved to Denmark or did this happen first before you moved to Denmark? I am simply asking because as a Dane our healthcare system are free of charge. My father recently were cured of cancer and had a two year long meeting with Danish healthcare and he have not paid anything what so ever, on the contrary, he got some extra cleaning and nursing help in the home on top of treatment, completely free of charge. Also received transport to and from hospital and physiotherapy free of charge. So how are Germany related to this? Seems it are about Germany and not Denmark. I also thought Germany had free healthcare as Denmark? If it are a precondition that certain levels, say vitamin wise, are reached then vitamin shots and nutrition fluids can be prescribed and then should be free as well, at least here in Denmark. Please clarify. In relation to my fathers illness I read quite a bit and talked to doctors and can generally recommend for her to eat a lot of nuts, carrots, and veggies in general. Stay away from sugar, no sodas at all. Brand new studies seem to show that Novo Nordisk new fat treatment drug Ozempic seem to be able to reduce cancer tumour cells as well. (EDIT)This are so new it have not been peer revived yet but have been found out by statistics from cancer treatment departments. I hope the best for your wife and your entire family.

@@whatisbrendanuptonow7552 Thanks for your answer. I hope it have not taken up to much of your valuable time but think many of my questions would also be raised by others thus hopefully they too have gotten a better insight. I hope your wife´s German family can be of serious assistance to you both, There can be many questions to relate to. It are a bit strange for me to hear that you had to seek private doctors and generally I would be very wary of people promising something/results our healthcare system wont. I however have had that type of questions close recently, as you could read. I urge you to make sure your wife consistently gets a handful of nuts and at least some part of a carrot with every meal throughout and also stay as far away from white sugar things, like sodas and candy as possible. Buy a juice machine and make fresh juice, aids with getting veggies/fruits and levels up where they should be. Carrots, Broccoli and sellery contains good stuff incl iron, so great to include in the juices. IF your wife´s family support system in Germany are low, I urge you to contact a cancer organisation to aid you in Germany and also here Denmark as well where they are not present. Maybe they can provide updated information and inspiration to questions you can ask doctors. Forgive my directness but if doctors see an advantage in taking away your wife´s breasts, you should strongly consider this. They can later be reconstructed. IF Denmark cannot offer a relevant treatment, as you describe it are the case, pro operation/treatment, you have options to get costs from treatment abroad paid but then you have to act immediately so that they can relate to the treatment your wife are offered elsewhere before it are initiated. if you have started then maybe later costs could be paid if approved by the Danish doctors if they are not able to do it but approve of it. I hope you have discussed this with the doctors in Denmark? An extended blood test Danish doctors should be able to provide without further ado also including any specific wishes you might have. Remember you can access these results digitally through Nem ID and if that are a hassle for you I cannot think that the doctors would not make a paper copy you could bring to a third party if you so should require. If nutrition shots are helpful for your wife it angers me if she cannot get them here. Maybe here again a contact with a cancer patient organisation could be of value to you, they would be able to tell you fast if such are the case, I cannot understand or even accept, if that should be so.. They would also be able to tell you about maximum time for different treatments/actions by heart. I hope the friends you have that moved to Denmark earlier can be part of your support system. You must seek some help and assistance that can aid you locally. Best to include this early and hope it will be a short aid than late if a prolonged journey, Informing the children´s school of the situation might cause some useful advice's as well. Danish cancer treatment and results generally have climbed higher and higher last 20 years and are a prioritised field in our healthcare system with many demands on time for actions etc. I hope some of the things I have written can be of just a little help for you. I will again extend my best wishes for your wife, you and the entire family and hope for the best possible outcome for you all.

@@Mike-zx1kx Thanks again Mike for your follow up and concern. Yes there was also other viewers who were confused and learned from our text conversation. Sarah´s diet has deffinatly changed recently even though she was a relitivly health eater compared to many before hand. She is following her diet strictly now. The school is aware of the situation and has been great. We will have to make contact with a cancer support net work and yes Sarah´s family have been very supportive. The Danish doctors have been very nice to deal with but seemed to not have the pre operation care tools at their disposal. Possibly if we knew the ins and outs of the system better we could put pressure on the wright person to get something extra, but we dont have the time to push the points. It seems that in Germany and also Australia which also has a reasonable health system. that the level of services available are getting cut back and the services that are left are stretched. This has been noticable in the last 3 to 4 years. Possibly it is simular here? Again, Thank you for your time, well wishes and suggestions Med venlig hilsen Brendan

@@whatisbrendanuptonow7552 You are welcome. I am born and live in Denmark but have been establishing myself in other nations in relation to work, so have tried to be in the situation where a lot are new. I cannot imagine a worse time to have to deal with cancer on top of that. Happy to hear that you at least have your wife´s family as a support network in relatively close proximity. Around 20 years or a little longer ago, Denmark were falling a little behind statistically in cancer treatment in relation to other Nordic nations and it became a big subject for us Danes. Since then it have been a highly prioritised area and still are, so precisely when it comes to cancer it are my general belief, and what I personally experienced in relation to my fathers 2 year struggle that this are well dealt with. Now we statistically are in top in most areas. I were pretty involved in my fathers journey all along. He had two different cancer types and were cured for one and the other were an outbreak of skincancer that now will be monitored regularly and treated again if reoccurring. Doctors have firmly said that they will make sure by this that, that will not be the cause for his departure. Politicians in this nation can loose their seat if slacking on cancer treatment and one of the things that have been introduced in the period are strict timelimits on how long time things must take, that´s one of the reasons why I recommended contact with a cancer patient organisation and/or patient groups because they would be able to keep you informed of these limits. I believe the maximum period from an identified operable tumour are 30 days (to operation have to take place) and you mentioned 3 weeks. Denmark now have a relatively high, even by Western standards, access to quality precision cancer radiation cannons, something I believe also often can be part of an post operation treatment, so if that should be necessary, you at least have that positive knowledge. One of the other ways they have improved treatment are by specialising in some types of operation on some hospitals, so the surgery are done by people with high expertise in precisely those. So if your local hospital are not same as where Sarah will be operated, that are the good reason and if it is, then they know what they are doing. If Sarah´s "numbers" were low they might have halted operation some days, so she had opportunity to get them up, as you described you have been able to but I think they are bound by rules to operate within the 30 days. Regarding the nutrition shots I cannot provide personal insight but again a reason why I think guidance from a cancer org. could be of value to you. The uncertainty of not being 100% on having the best option possible potentially provided, must be eliminated, so you do not use nonconstructive time thinking about it. They can provide the answer if that could be offered or not and then you both have that certainty. Most families have had someone with cancer or know someone that have been trough it. Reaching out locally thus often will be met with understanding and help. I am happy to hear that also seems to be the case with the school. Have your local municipality been informed? They might be able to offer you some help as well? If Sarah are weak it could be simple things like having a support tripod she can use when taking a shower. If she are in Germany now maybe a good time to contact them and inform them beforehand, so you can get that or other things, by one phone call if/when actually needed. They have "libraries" of these kind of support items and you borrow it for as long it are needed. If Sarah needs home nursing post operation that often also are coordinated via the municipality. In Denmark it have become practice to try to help the patient at home so they do not have to be transported when weak and thus the qualified help come to you. I live in Copenhagen so cannot be of much local assistance but should either of you have a sudden question that you feel a "native" would be needed to answer or find out, you are welcome to write it here and I will respond initially by answering that I have read it and then see if I can be of assistance. You don´t have to spend time responding to this, but now you know you have that option.

That's bull, you don't pay for health care in DK, if you are an European citizen as your wife are, you just need to show your European health card to get free treatment.
