Great video! I’m from NY and likely going to be moving to Florida (Ocala is the front runner at this time). After hearing this video, I’m now convinced that NY instills these fears in us about Florida’s sink holes and alligators to keep all the NYer’s from fleeing to Florida lol. With that said, you had mentioned some of the pests there and I have cats. I’m wondering if there are any special concerns with these pests that I should be thinking about / concerned with if you know? Thank you for all the great videos!

Everyone here either has a cat colony or several dogs. I do know that you will have a time of it getting your cats not to chase and catch and kill the bazillion mini lizards that we have down here. Especially if your cat catches them by the tail...it comes off!!! Don't worry, they grow back, but it's still alarming. You can always tell the houses where they have cats that love to play hunter...when you approach the front door all of the little lizards in the bushes and stuff have tails at various stages of growing back!

@@GreatExpectationsRealty thank you for your quick response! Alarming is right, a bit terrifying as well haha. I’m glad to hear that there’s no real concerns with their safety (the cats since the lizards are a different story lol). My cats are fully indoors and I’m with you, any creatures are fine if they stay outside, but dead if they come in haha. I will be coming to Florida in the next few months to explore some areas and then will be beginning the process and if Ocala is where I settle on, I will certainly be reaching out to you for representation!

Thank you for mentioning hospitals and the VA along with the sinkholes. Any suggestions on how to research the area more in depth? (Definitely trying to avoid known sinkholes areas etc. Just as stressful as hurricanes for me.) Websites; links?

I have a question. What would be the reason for people to sale their houses and move out of Ocala?

A lot of people will sell their second homes here or will want to upgrade or get into something smaller with less maintenance depending on what point of their lives they are at. The last few people we have represented that were leaving were because they wanted to be by their grandkids now that they have grandkids or job transfers.

We do have wild rhesus monkeys here in Ocala. I think at last count there is about 1800 of them in the Ocala National Forest. They are basically like squirrels. Some people mess with them to get them riled up for videos or feed them to get close to them, which is a bad idea since they are wild animals! Lol I have filmed them before from a safe distance and thought they were adorable with the babies and stuff. But I have a strict rule about letting the wild animals live their lives and not messing with them. We get along just fine that way. If you want to see the footage I took a month or so back, it’s in the video about silver springs.
