I am from Texas and this video is spot on. This is my second time moving to Kansas City and being from Houston this is all correct. Saving time from traffic has been incredible. I am waiting for a Bucee's as well.

yo how's the weather compared? im from Houston area as well, currently at fort riley for the last 3 years. apart from visiting for a few days a year, i cant remember exactly how the weather is down there. from what i remember the humidity definitely feels a lot better here in Kansas for what i remember. just trying to get a refresher on my thoughts.

@@14samueld Yeah the humidity is way better here, people from here who have never been to Houston have no clue. I tell them all the time, this aint notthing compared to Houston. It has its days where it can get hot though

The word is that Buc-ee's is scoping out KC area. "Buc-ee’s is planning to open a new location in Kansas City, Kansas. According to recent reports, the site is at the northeast corner of 110th Street and Interstate 70, next to the Kansas Speedway and The Legends Outlets Kansas City."

I saw that! Apparently they're scoping out a few other spots. I'd personally like to see it go in near the Legends Outlets.

Having lived in suburbs of both Kansas City and Dallas, I can tell you that the quality of life is better and more affordable in the Kansas City area compared to the Dallas Metroplex. Yes, Kansas City does not offer as many amenities but as you accurately cited in the video, there is far less traffic issues in the Kansas City area and it is not nearly as crowded. The school system in both Kansas and Missouri is not nearly as political and complicated as those in Texas. In Kansas and Missouri, you take and pass your classes and you earn a high school diploma. In Texas, you have to pass the state STAAR tests in addition to passing your classes in order to earn a high school diploma. If you are under age eighteen, drivers ed is required (the process is long and very bureaucratic) in Texas if you wish you obtain a drivers licence. Although I live in the Dallas area now, I long to return to the Kansas City area one of these years when I can.

@@kcsuburbs How spread out everything is, how the neighborhoods look and the anti CA sentiment(I’m from CA, Texans don’t like us). Just looking at pictures of KC, it gives me much more of a Nashville feel which I like

@@GoldenGod69 I grew up in Pennsylvania but went to college in Memphis and I spent lots of time in Nashville. The KC area does remind me of the Nashville area and the Memphis suburbs and I love that and we currently live in the DFW. I have never been a Texas fan I just tolerate it until we leave lol

@@kcsuburbs Let me give you mine as a current resident the topography sucks which is a huge thing for me at least when we lived in Az it had that stark desert beauty and mountains. 2. There is too much hustle and bustle, I grew up in Philly so I've had the big city living experience I want my suburbs to feel like an oasis and quaint not like Dallas proper 3. The cost of living and housing has skyrocketed since we've moved here years ago😡

I live in Lee's Summit and my advice is to move to Johnson County, Kansas. Either one of the two he mentioned would be great for you. You will have ten times the places to eat and shop at. Anywhere south of I-435 /Metcalf Ave would be fine. North of that Is older neighborhoods from the 60's - 70'. They started building south and never quit because it was just farm land. Huge subdivisions brand new are all over the place. The city planed everything pretty good to meet the needs of the future.

Great input! You're right, Johnson County has a lot more to do. I've worked with some families who really liked the peace and quiet of Lee's Summit (and the lower prices). It definitely depends on which matters more!

Old Leawood is where you find great sized lots.... one of my clients has a home that is valued at 900K, and thier lot is 2/3 of an acre... with a 2,800 square foot house.

State income tax is no big deal. I live in rural Johnson County, Missouri, and my sister lives in rural Willamson County, Texas... our properties are valued the same amount, my property taxes are 1,200$ a year, while hers are 6,500$! State income tax is the way to go, you only pay more if you EARN more, and you're not punished for being a homeowner.

In San Antonio right now, been here 17 years. Spent 14 years on Dayton/Columbus Ohio area. Before that grew up overseas due to dad being in the Army. Anyway I’m looking to move cause I’m tired of the heat. Hubby grew up in KC, MO and we met here. Long story short he won’t move any further north of St Louis but neither of us have been there. For sure don’t want to move to the west or east. But idk about moving to St Louis either

We lived in Leawood and 1 34th Terrace, having been told the best house in the area at about 590,000. In 2015… I checked on Zillow and it looks like the house is now over $1 million in value… stupid stupid stupid decision to sell and move to California. Our home in Leawood had 4400 ft.² including a finished basement. 1/3 acre and only a $3300 a month mortgage!!! $3300 a month is what my wife gets for her Social Security… Not to mention my pensions, and we have over $1 million in retirement… that $3300 a month in mortgage would have been invaluable to keep….
@kcsuburbs
@kcsuburbs 9 ай бұрын
That area has seen a TON of growth in the past decade or so. I know thinking about that $3300 mortgage hurts...a lot of families are in a similar situation, trapped with these 3% rates and staring down the barrel of 7-8%
