Lauren as a fellow young woman who lives here and takes the subway alone every day, do NOT be afraid, it's AMAZING, so fast and efficient, especially the express trains and you save sooo much money. Once you master the trains, you'll wonder why you ever even considered keeping a car here. NYC is unique that it's built on a human scale and not for cars like most of the US. Having the ability to buy whatever you need within walking distance of your apt and without a car is what makes NY the best city in America. It's part of the magic of this city and not having everything so spread out is a blessing. Enjoy it, embrace it and I fully agree that NY is way safer than Alabama. I know public transit can seem intimidating to outsiders but promise you I see the the wealthiest, bougiest New Yorkers on the train on my daily commute, you're going to do amazing.

I feel as if crime in NYC also gets more TV time due to it happening in the city. I’ve lived in Alabama my whole life and there are parts that are very unsafe (not all places!) but it does make me uncomfortable as a young woman.

Just to add on as well! It seems like there is more crime in NYC (well bc there is) but also because there are so many more people. Also, if you’re on the subway just stay to yourself, look down (but be aware) and don’t be afraid to change cars if you’re ever uncomfortable! Trust your gut

I highly recommend renting a car sometime in New Jersey or Long Island (somewhere outside of the city) and going shopping for your apartment out there where its less expensive! Then you can drive your things back to your apartment and then return the car! That's what my bf and I did! SO excited for you both! Congratulations on your big move! 💖💖💖💖

Born and raised in the city and have taken the subway my whole life, I never had an unsafe situation and the biggest annoyance is honestly like train delays and things like that. Just use common sense, be aware of your surroundings and don’t take the train or walk on empty streets alone late at night. You’ll be amazing ❤️

To follow up on this, I've also never felt unsafe on the train - just don't go alone into empty cars and keep an eye on your surroundings. After a few months you'll be zoning out your commute like the rest of us! I would also recommend the bus depending on where you're going since you can always see outside and the driver is always an extra set of eyes. Late at night they even drop you off exactly where you want on the bus route so you can get off closer to your destination@@TheLaurenNorris

not that it matters. but I personally think Will should maintain his mostly offline role - I think it'll be healthier in the long run for both of you.. There is a reason why actors are most successful in their relationships with non actors than fellow actors. Plus then your relationship doesn't turn into work. I think after a bit of practice the subway is fairly intuitive - if you know where you are and where you're going it'll make sense since all the lines operates on an uptown/downtown model. Apple maps is a great tool to familiarize yourself with it because it'll tell you which exits to use to be closest to your destination once you get onto the street. In terms of safety, pay attention to your surroundings, always stand behind a pole/bench/etc when you're waiting for the train, and if you have headphones in, only have one playing music so you can hear your surroundings

Congratulations on your move! I'm a native New Yorker and there is so much for you to discover; I've travelled to so many places and there is nothing quite like it! You both are going to grow so much and redefine your core selves in a lot of ways (that's what NYC tends to do). There are so many beautiful/cool neighborhoods and pockets that you will come across (west village, dumbo, lic, west side, brookfield, southstreet seaport to name a few) that have insane food and great vibes. Lauren, congrats on your new move. NYC is great - it has its moments but overall it’s truly a place with endless things to do and see. Regarding your subway apprehensions - completely get it! My advice (as a young woman) is to keep to yourself (no smiling, small talk etc.), if someone is making you uncomfy or there is commotion on one end - don’t look, and don’t be afraid to change cars. Trust your gut. Additionally, I would be *careful* posting too much regarding your apartment / filming right outside where you live. There are so many recognizable buildings in the city, and because of StreetEasy/Zillow sharing a floor plan / surroundings would make it easy for someone to find your general area. I’m not saying this to scare you! NY is an incredible city. Enjoy the food, enjoy the hole in the wall spots. You’re gonna love it. Welcome Home.

I think the best time to make a move like this is right now! You're fortunate to have a job that allows this type of move and you should take advantage of that! And I'm glad you are! As for your car(s) - I might recommend you sell them if you find that you aren't going to move them up to NYC with you. Cars that sit in storage are often a headache and costly maintenance-wise if they sit for too long without being used regularly. It would probably be better financially for you to sell them and put that money in a HYSA to use towards a future car purchase if/when you move out of the city. And also, if you find that you're occasionally needing a car up there, you can always rent a vehicle for trips and that may be a better deal than paying for a monthly car spot if you're not using it regularly. Just my two cents! Looking forward to your new vlogs!

NYC was fun while I was young, but I was ready to leave I ended up back in my hometown living on the lake and couldn't be happier.
