Moving to Phnom Penh is exciting news! I am looking forward to how it will be like to retire in Phnom Penh Cambodia as a foreigner. I am also interested to know what the cost of living is in Phnom Penh as an expat. In this Cambodia travel vlog I move from my apartment in Siem Reap to my new city of Phnom Penh. I take you along the ride with me and go through my experience and also the pricing of travelling and moving my property in the SUV to Phnom penh.

I visited Canada many times - Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Quebec City, Ottawa… I will make Cambodia and Thailand my part time retirement destination. I’m 57 now. My wife and I can’t wait! 5 to 10 years to go, depending on family obligations in the US (senior parents).

I grew up in Phnom Penh City way back in the 60s before the Khmer Rouge took over the country. I had to leave the country in 1979 and most of my family members did not survive. Can't wait to visit my sole surviving sister next month who currently still lives in Phnom Penh. The city brought me back with bitter/sweet memories childhood. It's been very cold here with single digits F/ below zero C. Enjoy the big city with your cousin. Chills from Minnesota ❄️

Great question. It’s a hit and miss depending where you live(city centre or near river) and also what time of year it is. I’ve experienced virtually no mosquitos for weeks then I’ve also experienced many mosquitoes at a restaurant near the river/water. Inside my house I’ll experience almost no mosquitoes because I do stray once a week before cleaning crew comes in. Siem Reap seems to be relatively good with mosquitoes if you are in the main centre(pub street/old market). Again, it’s a tough question to answer. I manage my risks of contracting excessive mosquitoes with repellent’s and spraying(I’m not inside after I spray). Hope this helps. Thank for the good question. I appreciate it. Have a good day 🙏

I will be with them five weeks when they return to Boston I will stay in Cambodia six months I was considering Siem Reap because it is not far from where he built his house.
