One thing I noticed about planning to move to Sweden is that everything seems to revolve around having a Personnummer. You can only get this number by going to the Skatteverket in person. However, to register, you need to have an address in Sweden. There seems to be a housing shortage, and being a German or someone from the EU without guaranteed accommodation, it is difficult to find an affordable place to stay. I'm starting my master's in Jönköping this month.

Hey Martin, yes you are absolutely right. This concept makes it a bit complicated to get started in Sweden but i hope everything works out well in the end! Have a great start into your Master and i hope that you’ve found an accommodation already. :)

Once you get your personal number - everything will be easier. Specially if you get sick or need anything from the healthcare system. No health encurance needed.

"... its a slight misconception U need an adress or a temporary adress wher to recieve mail. a postbox would work... ...but not a hotell unless u can prove u have a room rented for a long time. ...a relative/friend/partners adress would also work...

Good luck, but try also checkout Hemnet for apartments, and you could also try to find a living little outside Stockholm, much easier and travel time can even be shorter than living inside Stockholm metro area. It can take a long time to travel from one side to another compared to directly f om a smaller city outside Stockholm and directly to the destination.

Thank you very much! Thats a great tip to look for soemthing more outside as the public transport in Stockholm works really well!
