Titusville sits behind the little natural protective bubble that deflects hurricanes. I watched a category 3 that was headed here bounce up and land in Daytona instead. If you take a tour of the Space Center you'll see why they built it there instead of further south. That reason also protects Titusville.

I love Titusville I wish I had moved here years ago. Was in Orlando most of my life but it has gotten to crowed and traffic is horrible. I am so comfortable living here very relaxing and quiet town.

I lived in Titusville for a little over 10yrs (60s) and back then it was a wonderful place to live.

i didn't live there until 2000s, but i had been coming down to visit my grandparents since the 80s. I watched Titusville die. I only know it it in the 6os from stories and photos, but yes the early years of the Space Program and the moon shots and even in the beginning of the shuttle program, Titusville was the it town of Brevard. Titusville was once the county seat, but that was moved to Viera. Titusville had a lot to do, but excitement over shuttles kind of died and the rockets don't generate the excitement they used to. There has been a bit of a resurgence in interest with all the new private space programs, however, the town has a lot of extreme racists (a quick drive around town will find not only a bunch of confederate flags, but multiple nazi ones as well). Titusville has gang issues and a drug problem. There are large parts of town that no one wants to live in and people coming to the area looking to invest are finding that much of the developed area is in a bad part of town. Titusville has a lot of history and a lot of promise, but they have a lot of issues to deal with before they will be ready for the future. Titusville is still 30 minutes from anywhere you would want to be. @@cherylhickmon8573

Hopefully all of these new projects get finished and not left abandoned as I experienced 2009-2014 in Titusville. Is the Searstown Mall still there or did it get replaced like Miracle City Mall did? Is the Buddhist Sanctuary (White Sands) still there (well in Mims area)? Glad to see the Enchanted Forest Sanctuary still remains, that was a nice area with Playalinda. Loved the few things in Christmas and I always went to Waterford Lakes in Orlando for shopping (we didn't have the new mall that replaced Miracle City Mall then) because Waterford was just in the big city of Orlando but still had a suburban touch.

Titusville has a lot of growth potential and people in office there who really want to see Titusville grow to it's full potential unlike in previous years. So I am very optimistic everything will get completed. Thanks for sharing your experience and watching!

One down side I see is that US1 runs straight through the historic downtown area. It's hard to have that old town feel with a major road running through it.

Hey there! Bring her down in the wintertime. It's been pretty cool the past couple of days 65-75 degrees so it's not necessarily always hot. The wind from the rivers and ocean helps the heat feel more tolerable in the summertime.

Hi Tony, it's a mix but you can certainly find concrete block-built homes in Titusville. Sometimes you will also see a builder using a wood frame on the second floor of a two-story home but for the majority, they are concrete built on both floors.

Anything new will be concrete block because of building requirements. However there are plenty of older wood frame homes on Piers that have been standing for 100 years. People worry much about hurricanes in my opinion.

I just moved to Titusville and it's awesome. Steer clear of the locals who grew up out here and focus more on making friends with the transplants. The locals under the age of 50 are mostly uneducated and whiny about everything.
