I remember well the feeling of having to start again, surrounded by boxes in a smaller place with no frame of reference for how to live day to day any more.... terrifying, liberating, upsetting and exhilarating all at once. You will start to make your own routines and traditions, and you'll meet your tribe. There's ups and downs, tears and laughter, but things do settle and become normal eventually, and then you'll wonder how you lived any other way ❤

I went through a traumatic divorce after 23 years of marriage. It’s so hard, and not what anyone ever wants to go through, but the peace of mind you ultimately get… Once you get used to living without the turmoil and pain, it’s better. I promise. Super, super proud. My wife and i separated off and on for almost 4 years. It was horrifying. And I appreciated my friends who wanted to help, but I really just wanted people to see me at the barn, meet me for coffee, dinner or wine.I didn't want "help," i just wanted distraction. And my two cats and horse were literally everything to me. I basically used the same 7 dishes and 4 pans for a year. So i feel this so hard. To me, every baby step was a small travel in the direction I meant to be. Even if some felt wildly lost. Acceptance is hard. It's so hard. But it's very good. Bravo Sam.

Regarding getting your mail: We have a foldable cart/wagon for when we are bringing stuff to or from the boat. It's a lifesaver, and it folds up pretty compactly. This type of folding cart could be useful also for bringing stuff from your car into the apartment.

Yess!! My parents just got one of those for their boat too! They are older and really need the extra help. It would work so well for lugging packages to your apartment!!

As someone that moves around pretty often, my biggest tip when trying to get re-established is to utilize your apps. As you think of something you need, stop and add it to your cart when enough stuff is there order it for pick up. It catches all those things in the “lightbulb” moments and helps you not forget and get overwhelmed at the stores. It also helps reduce those impulse buys...those impulse buys really add up when you are already having to spend a lot to get what you actually need.

Recommend a collapsible wagon for your packages at your apartment. Sam’s and Costco usually sell them. They’re really sturdy. Edited to add: We have glass for a lot of our shower. Get a squeegee with a hangar that suctions onto your shower wall. Every time we shower we squeegee down the walls and it makes it stay nicer so so much longer between big cleans.

When Aries comforted you, I almost cried. It reminded me of my parents divorce. Our dog would stand by my mom's side at all times. We lived in a hot city, and we didn't have central AC, just individual ones for each room, so he usually slept in my room, so he wouldn't get heatstroke. He decided to forgo the comfort of the AC to lie down by my mom's door with its little nuzzle to it, until my mom would let him in. If she didn't, it didn't matter, he would sleep there, cause he knew she needed him. He was her greatest companion during those times. Dogs are too precious.

It's hard at first starting over but at the same time it is liberating. When I broke up with my ex I thought it was the end but really it was the beginning of me learning to love myself and finding my individuality. I was always labeled as 'his girl.' Now people see me as Whitney. I would be lying if I said it isn't hard but as time goes on it gets easier. I was with my ex for 9 years so it took me awhile to find some emotional stability but once I did I was so happy! It has been two and a half years now. I wouldn't change a thing. I am happy that you are doing better! I already see so much character growth in you. It's nice to see your spark coming back. Missed you girl. 💗

I was told to leave without a place to go at 60 yrs old, moved from Florida to Puerto Roco with 2 switcases and my dog… left my stuff in storage and now im ready to moved my stuff to Puerto Rico… I have cried, felt pity for myself, got up, started over im happier thn I’ve ever been and just now im ready to bring my things from Florida!!!… There is always a brighter tomorrow for grabs if you want it… go get it!

Been there with the starting over years ago. I did take my stuff and things that I wanted. But I restarted with new dishes and stuff, new microwave, new sweeper, brooms and stuff. It feels good to get new stuff and it can be fun. Like you, some things that you use day in and day out with a hubby/BF/lover you want to replace. I left almost all my kitchen things with exhubby and he didn't replace a lot of it until years later. I didn't want him to have to buy stuff again for kitchen when two of my sons were their most of the time and the other one was with me. One difference with my ending was that me and ex-hubby ended up staying as friends, we grew out of being in love with another but still treasured our friendship. It did take a while to heal and to give over the hurts and whatnot but we are good now and we both get along great with each others new partners.

No one eats the same food as I do in my house, so I sort of cook for one. The one thing I would totally recommend to make life easier is a food saver system to freeze extra food. Really helps it to keep longer and not be freezer burnt. I like to freeze rotisserie chicken meat in small portions for on top of salads. Or spaghetti sauce. Lots of different uses!

Hang in there Samantha. I promise you that it gets easier as time goes on. I was heartbroken when my marriage broke up, but a year or so later, I was loving living alone. The independence was so empowering. Here I am 10 years later and I have zero interest in even dating because I truly enjoy living my life on my terms. If I, by complete chance, meet someone who fits into my life and has the same lifestyle and outlook on life, I might consider it, but it would have to be the perfect fit.

You are so much stronger then you know Sam.. truly motivational!💕 While I’m not in the same situation as you, I deal with a lot of chronic health issues, and common mental illnesses. Watching how strong you are really reminds me to pick me head up and get the things done that I have been putting off. 💗 I think I say this every video that Aries is in, but she is such an angel! Our dog has very, very similar mannerisms, & do I love that boy! I agree 100%, they are not dogs, they are family. 🐾💜
